The Location: This position is located in Carlsbad, California at our corporate headquarters.

Job Overview:
As a GIA storyteller on the Digital Marketing & Media team, you will lead the center of excellence for Social Media marketing, maintaining GIA's brand standards while finding new ways to share GIA's pursuits of innovation and education. Effectively combine creativity, strategy, technology, and data to drive GIA's Social Media efforts forward. Requires an entrepreneurial Social Media Manager who brings skills and passion to a dynamic and evolving industry.
Responsibilities:
Support the Social Media Strategist in developing GIA's social strategy; implement social strategy.
Provide content recommendations to the creative team to ensure content development is optimized for social platforms and GIA's social audiences to increase engagement.
Day-to-day management of paid campaigns.
Ensure GIA is meeting social best practices and evaluate new platforms and features to recommend new opportunities.
Keep up-to-date on industry and social trends, and actively educate the marketing team and stakeholders to best understand the Social Media landscape.
Use data-driven recommendations to contribute to content strategy and audience-facing communications, including active engagement on community channels and reactive messaging.
Develop and execute key community initiatives, including live and digital events, content partnerships, crowdsourcing content, and influencer programs.
Manage social content calendars and milestones, including delivering content to regional teams.
Work closely with product teams to understand offerings and key initiatives to create compelling product communications across all digital platforms.
Inform content strategy by distilling broad consumer and industry trends into actionable plans.
Establish feedback loops with key audiences including retailers, students, and alumni; provide meaningful reporting on community sentiment, concerns, and suggestions.
Research industry-related activities and conduct research on how competitors engage with their communities.
Report on metrics and analyze performance across all social channels to drive continuous improvement, optimization, and innovation.
Other duties as assigned.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):
• Subject matter expert for Social Media platforms - no gem/jewelry expertise needed!
Proven track record of leveraging social to successfully drive organizational objectives and increase brand awareness and user engagement.
Expertise in identifying and understanding social trends and how to use them.
Experience working with product and technology teams in a product marketing role.
Proven record of creating impactful creative ideas.
Data-driven, ability to analyze and understand data and gather insights for new ideas.
Ability and enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced environment where the process is fluid and creative solutions are the norms.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and proven presentation experience. Demonstrated ability to write creative content for blogs and Social Media.
Early adopter and problem solver for digital platforms. Comfortable trying new tools and adapting to process improvements.
High-level thinker with strong attention to detail and commitment to excellence.
Strong people skills, diplomacy and a collaborative spirit.
Curious, adaptable, creative, proactive, and positive.
Team player with the confidence to take the lead and guide other departments when necessary.
Familiar with agile project management tools and methodologies; adept with working on simultaneous projects and different stages.
Experience publishing Social Media on the web with Sprout Social or similar Social Media publishing platforms.
Skilled in PowerPoint or Mac Keynote, excel, and design tools.
Ability to maintain and foster sensitivity and respect for a culturally diverse work environment.
Ability to display supportive behavior and communicate positively regarding department goals and objectives.
Ability to deal effectively with a variety of personalities to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Excellent grammar, written, and verbal communication skills.
Ability to prioritize and resolve conflict when necessary.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, public relations, or a related communications field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
5-7+ years of multi-channel digital marketing experience with hands-on experience in Social Media marketing required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in a designated professional office workstation and environment.
Extensive use of office equipment including computer, calculator, copier, fax, and other business-related machines and software.
Pay Range: $90,000 - $120,000 per year
