The Social Media Coordinator serves as a vital part of the marketing team, contributing to the overall Social Media strategy for AKC, creating social content, learning from our customers, as well as collaborating across departments. You’re an excellent communicator who can balance multiple projects while engaging communities in meaningful ways and driving results.
- This position is hybrid requiring 3 days onsite weekly in our NYC office.
Primary Job Duties
- Responsible for daily response, tagging, and community management to all consumer commentary across all active social platforms in a timely manner
- Build organic community engagement through thoughtful commentary
- Support the team by tracking and reporting on engagements and any issues that arise.
- Collaborate with the Social Media Manager and Social Media Producer to package, schedule, and post content on all social platforms as needed (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter)
- Monitor engagements. trends, hashtags to inform the team of new content opportunities that align with our content calendar and overall marketing goals
- Develop, capture, curate, and edit visually appealing and compelling content. Including but not limited to AKC event coverage of the AKC National Championship and AKC Meet the Breeds.
- Ensure social content is QA-checked for links, hashtags, handles, formats, assets, and any other issues before publishing
- Adhere to editorial best practices for the brand, including tone, voice, style guide, fact-checking and photography standards
- Assist in the creation and publication of custom images/graphics specifically for brand accounts
Required Skills, Specialized Knowledge and Competency Requirements
- Strong understanding of Social Media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, TikTok, etc.).
- Canva or Adobe Creative Cloud experience a plus.
- Familiarity with social monitoring and publishing tools (Sprout Social, Dash Hudson) is a plus.
- Experience gathering and interpreting Social Media metrics, using native platforms and other relevant tools.
- Ability to contribute to and help evolve Social Media marketing strategy.
- Ability to work both independently and as a supportive member of a larger team in or experience with dogs (from a sport or pet perspective) is a plus.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to adapt writing styles to suit our brand’s voice and tone.
The salary range for this position in New York City is $60,000 - $65,000/year; however salary offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge, and location.
Education
Required- Bachelors or better in Marketing or related field
