Responsibilities: Job Role and Responsibility: AMD, Inc. is hiring SMTS Software Development Engineer to research, design, develop, and/or test operating systems-level software, compilers, and/or network distribution software for semiconductor operations, applying principles and techniques of engineering and mathematical analysis. Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug software programs for enhancements and new products. Understand and define software requirements and architectures. Develop software and tools in support of design, infrastructure, and technology platforms, including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases, and cloud-based and internet-related tools. Define proprietary platforms, including hardware and software components. Drive software and systems solutions, including development and product definitions. Work with cross-functional teams, including engineers to develop systems-level software, working on significant and unique issues where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles. Drive projects or processes of significant technical importance. Exercise independent judgment to select methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results with little to no supervision. Utilize knowledge of computers and electronics, including computer hardware and software, applications, and programming, as well as knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD systems and products.

Qualifications: Degree required
Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Applied Computer Science, or related field.
Qualifications: Amount and type of experience required: Five (5) years of experience in job offered or closely related engineering role
Alternate combination of education and experience: Employer will accept alternate combination of education and experience: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Applied Computer Science, or related field and seven (7) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.
Specific skills required: The following skills are required:
Position requires four (4) years of experience in the following:
1.Design flows and methodologies used for chip verification;
2.Front-End EDA tools;
3.TCL and Python; and
4.Software debugging (macOS, Linux, or Unix).
