NMC is currently recruiting for a Sleep Technologist in Northwestern Pulmonology. This position is a Full-Time (72 hours bi-weekly) position, hours are generally 7p-7a.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Sleep Technologist works under the general supervision of the medical director or designee to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders including in center and home sleep apnea testing, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, comprehensive patient care and direct patient education.
PREREQUISITES:
Education: Graduate and registered in sleep technology (RST, NBRC, RRT- SDS, RPSGT) or accepted to sit for one of the registry examinations from one of the agencies below:
1. American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM) a. Registered Sleep Technologist (RST)
2. National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) a. Registered Respiratory Therapist – Sleep Disorder Specialist (RRT-SDS)
3. Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) a. Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT)
4. Another organization that offers an equivalent examination accepted by the AASM
OR
Approved allied Healthcare credential (ie, RN, LPN,RRT, EMT-P, PT, OT, AT, MT, DrPH, RT, etc) and agree to pass basic course within 60 days and enroll in RPSGT Pathway to become registered within 6 months
OR
Interest in sleep medicine and agree to pass basic course within 60 days and enroll in RPSGT Pathway to become registered within 18 months.
Experience: Strongly preferred: at least 1 yr experience performing home sleep tests and/or in-center sleep testing. For non registered sleep techs- 1 yr Healthcare experience preferred. Must possess or agree to obtain BLS/CPR
Special Skills: Effective written and verbal communication skills in English. Demonstrate critical thinking and ability to work with minimal supervision. Able to work with computers and various software programs to download/upload information. Great customer service.
