Statement of Purpose
The Multi-Modality Technologist is skill and certified and performs diagnostic imaging procedures in at least three of the following specialty areas: Radiography; DXA; Mammography; CT; MRI; Ultrasound. As a Multi-Modality Technologist, the employee will meet the requirements and perform the duties delineated in each of the specific Job Descriptions that qualifies him/her as a Multi-Modality Technologist.

Working Conditions
Equipment:
• Imaging equipment specified in this job description.
• HIS, PACS & RIS computer and related office equipment Physical Demands:
• Manual dexterity, fine motor skills, and mobility are required.
• Ability to lift/carry 50 lbs.
• Occasional prolonged standing, walking, bending and changing from one position to another.
• Working with difficult or combative patients.
Exposures:
• May be exposed to infections, contagious diseases and blood borne pathogens.
• Odorous and toxic chemicals as well as unpleasant specimens.
• Working with or around ionizing radiation.
Job Requirements
The successful candidate for the position of Multi-Modality Technologist at North Country Hospital will:
• Graduate of an AMA approved Associate degree program in Radiologic Technology
• Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in any three of the
following modalities: X-Ray; Mammography; CT; MRI; Bone Density; Nuclear
Medicine; QA; or Ultrasound
• Maintain a Vermont license for all registered modalities
• A minimum of 2 years' experience as a technologist

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities
- Knowledgeable in all exams performed relative to the specialties in which the Technologist is certified. Performs standard and advanced studies approved by the Medical Director of Diagnostic Imaging.
- Prepares, operates and maintains equipment. Prepares patient rooms and maintains adequate supplies and medications.
- Is prepared to serve members of various patient groups from neonatal to geriatric by using special equipment or adjusting techniques to satisfactorily produce a diagnostic image.
- Provides the patient and those in attendance with appropriate information relating to the procedure being performed..
- Encourages newborn/toddler to communicate by smiling, talking softly, etc.; insures proper patient identification; helps to educate parent(s) regarding whatever procedure is being done.
- Encourages child to ask questions about whatever procedure is being done; use a toy or game to teach the child and to reduce fear; keeps parent(s) involved in whatever follow-up procedure might be necessary.
- Shows respect for the adolescent patient's opinions, and avoids an authoritarian approach; explains the procedure in detail and encourages questions from patient.
- Gives the geriatric patient every possible assurance regarding the procedure being performed; assists the patient in terms of any necessary self-care; encourages the patient to take advantage of any support system that may be in place.
- Records images with proper labeling and identification.
- Selects proper technical factors on an individual basis.
- Selects and operates equipment as directed and notifies dept. manager of equipment problems.
- Lifts, moves, and transports patients via wheelchair or gurney as necessary.
- Consults with appropriate people to obtain a complete clinical history; gathers pertinent clinical data.
- Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient examinations. Is available for evening, night, and weekend rotation and call duty.
- Maintains technique and procedure manuals.
- Effectively utilizes the HIS & RIS computer and related office equipment.
- Participates in Departmental Quality Assurance Program as directed.

- Complies with appropriate hospital and diagnostic imaging service dress code.
- Respects and adheres to hospital policies regarding patient confidentiality both in and out of the hospital setting.

- Establishes and maintains orderliness in the work place and writes legibly.

- Capable of working without supervision within the guidelines set up by the Director of Diagnostic Imaging.
- Have good oral and written communication skills
