Compensation: Hourly
Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to estimate and design SIPs structures with the use of CAD and other software tools in accordance with customer plans and specifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Reading and interpreting blueprints
- Prepare accurate quotes from blueprints for sales using Plan Swift, Excel and Epicor tools
- Obtain and incorporate estimates from subcontractors for other manufactured items and installation to complete entire building package quotes
- Research and identify specialty items in the buildings scope of work
- Input of SIP panels for design layouts conforming to current PorterSIPs design practices and standards
- Design wall, roof, and floors ensuring both structural and non-structural elements are accurate, optimized and conforming to standards
- Prepare preliminary engineering drawings, submittal drawings and/or repair details and follow-up to ensure complete when necessary
- Incorporate engineers calculations into structural designs and layouts
- Prepare production drawings in CAD/Dietrich to support manufacturing
- Create bills of materials for the job specified products and entering data into Epicor
- Prepare installation drawings in CAD/Dietrich for job-site contractor
- Aid in training of new employees when required
- Aid in individual skills development and team development when required

Computer Skills
- Ability to operate a computer and Dietrich design software.
- Ability to operate Microsoft Excel, Word and other MS applications.
- Knowledge of CAD and drawing standards.
Other Requirements
- Knowledge of construction industry and construction site management.
- Knowledge of structural loading and load tables.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural blueprints.
- Ability to calculate tributary loads, concentrated loads and load transfer paths through a building.
- Truss design and layout knowledge helpful, as similar skillset involved.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to be courteous with customers, co-workers and construction personnel at all times.
- Good math skills including, but not limited to, architectural units, fractions, geometry and basic trigonometry.
- Organized and able to balance work load as needed.

- 2 years or more of prior work experience is a plus
