Onsite: This position requires an employee to be on-site on a full-time basis.

The Role

This position with the Machining, Tooling & Stamping (MTS) department you will be responsible for leading non-traditional & walk-in work programs through the planning, readiness, and build phases of a machining and fabrication shop to meet customer demands. You'll develop future Tooling Strategies by means of implementing new technologies and processes to traditional fabrication techniques and create efficient manufacturing methods to reduce cost.  You'll lead Data Management for the entire department, and all Cost Estimating and Business Case studies for non-traditional work.

What You'll Do

  • Evaluate all non-traditional work for manufacturability, cost, and capacity.
  • Review all incoming CAD/CAM data and manage all Project CAD/CAM Data through TeamCenter for non-traditional work programs.
  • Establish fabrication strategy and timing within customer demands for machining, assembly, welding processes, and sequence of operations for manufacturing.
  • Detailed capacity planning in the machining area to generate input for Program Management overall capacity planning strategy.
  • Manage the finance aspects of the non-traditional work area for cost analysis and charge back processes with PPO Finance.
  • Develop future tooling strategies and synergies within manufacturing.
  • Evaluate and improve tooling processes for efficiency and cost, speeds and feeds, etc.
  • Develop detailed operations guides for process flow through multiple machining operations.
  • Liaison between MTS and Customers (Assembly Plants, RESS Development Areas, etc.)
  • Tooling and Material procurement for special projects.

Additional Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • 5+ years of experience in automotive manufacturing, planning, engineering, or related.
  • In depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, including metal removal, NC Machining, Welding and Joining, and additive manufacturing technologies.
  • Strong CAD/CAM experience, NX software, Team Center
  • Demonstrated technical experience with NC Programming for Lathe, Mill, Boring Mill, WaterJet, and other metal removal applications.
  • Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
  • Experience with planning and program management.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully lead projects which are complex and require engagement with multiple disciplines and decision making.
  • High level of analytical ability, judgement, leadership and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with business partners in engineering, manufacturing, skilled hourly, and suppliers to inspire success to achieve mutual goals.
  • Strong strategic agility and the ability to adapt on the fly in a dynamic workstream.
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal direction.
  • Appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with business partners to meet mutual goals.
  • Cross functional experience with manufacturing and product development.
  • Prior experience with collaboration involving skill trades.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or equivalent experience.
