Shipping Supervisor

SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Finished Goods and Inventory Manager, the Finished Goods Supervisor is responsible for managing labor cost, material cost, throughput, coordination of daily activities, crewing, and process improvement for the Shipping and Bag Department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervises, and facilitates all activities for Shipping and Bagging departments.
• Ensure employees comply with best practices, policies, procedures, and applicable laws.

• Plans and coordinates activities for the following day (crewing, receiving, shipping, bags, supplies, repack, etc.)
• Must learn ERP system (Sage) to manage Shipping, Bagging, and Repack Transactions.

• Monitor labor costs and ensure efficient carton output according to company goals.
• Ensures proper communication and collaborates with other departments to coordinate plant-wide activities.
• Maintain work areas Audit Ready at all times.
• Track consumable item inventory and communicate with Purchaser to maintain safe stock levels at all times.
• Constantly monitors processes to validate SOPs.
• Certify physical floor count is accurate and matches the inventory in Sage. Investigate reasons for discrepancy, follow up, and propose continuous improvement when applicable.
• Arrange inventory to be handled first in, first out (FIFO); ensure the fruit is designated “Domestic” or “Export”.
• Constantly communicates with Sales and Pack on order delays, challenges, and priorities.
• Responsible for data validation (juice, work orders, repacks, sales orders, floor counts, etc).
• Audits Sage transactions to ensure efficiency and consistency within the Team.
• Responsible for mentoring employees, and conducting monthly safety tailgates and training as needed.

• Understands, follows, enforces, and complies with all Food Safety rules and regulations.

• Must lead by example and follow all Safety and Food Safety rules.

• Perform all other duties as directed by the Shipping Manager, Pack Manager, Plant Superintendent, or Director of Packing.

  EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, a two-year Associate Degree or equivalent preferred; must have three to five years of experience in lemon or related industry, previous supervision and decision-making experience; forklift experience preferred, but not required.

Must be computer literate and able to utilize software programs; must be organized, and able to manage time, priorities, and tasks; must be able to adapt to changing standards and requirements on a routine basis; must have a complete understanding of general office procedures and practices.

Must be able to read, comprehend, and follow instructions in English, Spanish fluency preferred; must be able to multi-task; must provide leadership and guidance to employees and delegate tasks; must motivate and encourage employees to reach their maximum potential.

This position spends the majority of the time in the packinghouse working around machinery with moderate noise. The temperature in the packinghouse differs and can be cold during the winter and hot during the summer.
