Position Summary:
This position coordinates the transportation of finished goods to customers in a timely manner. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Distribution Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Builds and consolidates customer orders using Microsoft AX Warehouse Management S. System, documents, and schedules according to customer requirements.
- Enters customer orders into Transportation Management System for carrier routing.
- Schedules loads with carriers per available dock appointments to meet sales order confirmed ship dates.
- Prepares a variety of Bills of Lading and Packing Lists to support transportation documentation for outbound loads including. Master Bills of Lading as well as preparing manual Bills of Lading.
- Works daily with prepaid as well as collect carriers to support OTIF (On Time in Full) shipping of loads.
- Coordinates orders shipping from offsite warehouses including carrier dock appointments, working c.
- Manages CHEP pallet program by reporting shipments of orders requiring CHEP pallets.
- Invoices loads timely by adding customer required shipping information to transportation system and flagging loads to invoice.
- Supports customer transportation with daily feedback and status updates of scheduled and nonscheduled loads.
- Calculates freight rates for prepay and charge shipments using selected applications.
- Supports customer service with shipping issues.
- Performs all work in accordance with Barr’s safety and quality guidelines and procedures; demonstrates clear understanding of these safety and quality objectives.
- Interfaces with Customer Service, Operations, and other departments for purposes of processing orders and to provide support with any shipping issues.
- Performs other work and special projects as assigned by the Distribution Manager.
Qualifications/Experience:
High school diploma or G.E.D. is required and two to three years administrative assistant experience in a Distribution/Logistics environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have good organization and interpersonal skills; effective oral and written communication skills; ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment; must be accurate and detail oriented; Microsoft tools (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) ability.
Work Environment/Physical Demands/Travel:
- Typical office environment with moderate noise level.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, reach, climb, stoop, talk, hear and see for extended periods of time.
- Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple reports.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one or small group situations to supervisors, customers, and/or other employees of the company.
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
- Ability to perform these operations using units of US dollars, weight measurement, volume, and distance.
- Ability to carry out instructions given in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in routine situations.
