Job Summary
The Sheet Metal Mechanic is responsible for laying out dimensions and marking reference lines on material, using scribers, dividers, squares, and rulers while applying knowledge of shop mathematics and layout techniques to develop and trace patterns of products or parts.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Cape Canaveral, Florida.
Position Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
- Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine sequence and best methods for fabricating, assembling, and installing Sheet Metal products.
- Sets up and operates fabricating machines, such as shears, brakes, presses, forming rolls, and routers, to cut, bend, block and form, or straighten materials.
- Trims, files, grinds, deburrs, buffs, and smooths surfaces and metal materials using hand tools and portable power tools.
- Installs assemblies in supportive framework according to blueprints, using hand tools, power tools, and lifting and handling devices.
- Inspects assemblies and installation for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments, such as calipers, scales, dial indicators, gauges, and micrometers.
- Repairs and maintains Sheet Metal products.
- Adhere to all Quality Management Systems standards and procedures.
- Treat all team members with respect and dignity ensuring a collaborative culture is continually developed and maintained.

Basic Qualifications (Required Education/Experience)
- Five (5+) years’ experience in using Sheet Metal to fabricate, assemble, install/repair, rework products and parts, or other relevant industry experience.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent. Experience in lieu of education may be considered.
- Excellent CAD model, blueprint, and schematic reading skills including thorough understanding of GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.

- Experience Sheet Metal working in an aerospace manufacturing environment preferred.

Physical Requirements
- Moderate Lifting Work – occasionally exerting up to 50 pounds of force to transport objects, remaining mostly stationary, sometimes requiring moving about the work center on concrete surfaces.
- Computer Work – daily use of laptop, computer monitor screen, keyboard, and mouse, sometimes utilizing a headset with microphone & speakers.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- All candidates selected will be subject to background investigation and drug screen.
- This position requires access to onsite locations managing Unclassified Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information, which is Not Releasable to Foreign Nationals (NOFORN) data. Therefore, to meet NOFORN requirements, you will have to provide proof of US Citizenship and attest that you do not have dual citizenship.

Shift/Schedule
This position is for the day shift generally working 7:00am – 4:00pm.
