SERVER JOB DESCRIPTION

As a server and/or bartender you have been given a job description upon being hired and you have been returned a signed copy of that job description stating that you understand the job expectations. It is essential that you adhere to your job description daily. It is the primary responsibility of the dining room server to take and deliver customer orders, maintain tables, ensure guest satisfaction, and finalize checks. The server is also responsible for performing side work and general cleaning of assigned stations. All duties are to be performed in accordance with The SEA Crab House’s policies, practices, and procedures.

The quality of service provided in a restaurant is just as important as the food served. The most amazing dining

experiences always include both exceptional service AND amazing food! We can ensure the delivery of

excellent service by successfully anticipating our guests’ needs, and quickly attending to them.

Server Responsibilities:

  • Report to work as scheduled in proper attire (see dress code).
  • Make sure you are ready to begin working when you clock in. You should not be clocking in if your attire isn’t presentable or complete, your cell phone is not put away, you are not wearing your apron, etc.
  • Check daily for any menu changes, 86’ed menu items, counts, and daily notes. The pre-shift meeting with your manager will help with this.
  • Greet every guest in a sincere and friendly manner; remember, without them, we have no livelihood!
  • Provide the highest level of service in accordance with The SEA Crab House’s standards.
  • Consistently follow service standards outlined by The SEA Crab House’s management (see steps of service).
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Be responsible for the entire guest experience until the guest leaves.
  • Itemize bills correctly and secure payment.
  • Offer warm salutations, using the guest’s name when known, and encourage all guests to return.
  • Maintain current food handlers and OLCC permits.
  • Anticipate guest needs and respond with an appropriate sense of urgency
  • Work collaboratively with peers, bartenders, hosts, BOH staff, and management
  • Communicate to management any guest, employee, or personal issues that may affect work.
  • Utilize daily side work checklists
  • Help to set up your peers for success.
  • Have a thorough understanding of food and drink offerings, including specials, limited time offerings, promotions, and any other food related offerings of the company. Suggestive selling is an important part of this position. To accomplish this, you must be able to answer relevant questions to assist guests in their selection.
  • Follows all company procedures relative to guest age verification for alcohol sales.
  • Ensures all food and beverages were prepared correctly and met company quality and presentation standards – If there are any deviations from this standard, you are responsible for notifying management.
  • Follows all established company cash handling procedures.
  • Completes any pre-shift, ‘running’ shift, and post shift set-up, prep, cleaning, and stocking in accordance with established company standards.
  • Alerts management immediately if there is any suspicion that a guest is intoxicated, and should be refused service for their safety and the safety of others.
  • Has a good working knowledge of the restaurant, e.g., hours of operation, directions to the restaurant, food & beverage menu selections, general restaurant information (credit cards accepted, check policies, take-out programs, and all information provided by the company for reference.)
  • Understands guest complaint resolutions. Anything causing further issues must be brought to the attention of the manager on duty.
  • Acknowledge guests as they leave, and invite them to come back to the restaurant.
  • Ensures a harassment-free environment through proper personal conduct.
  • Upholds safety and security standards at all times.
  • Completes assigned weekly cleaning projects.
  • Maintains professional restaurant image, including restaurant cleanliness, proper uniforms, and appearance standards.
  • Completes other job duties as assigned by the manager.

Pay: $1,000.00 - $2,500.00 per week
