Job SummaryThe Senior Vice President & Superintendent (SVP&S) of the Cadet Leadership Academy (CLA) serves in a strategic role reporting directly to the president and serves as a member of the president's Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and cabinet. The SVP&S is the executive responsible for all aspects of the Cadet Leadership Academy under the guidance of the president and in collaboration with other members of the SLT. The mission of the Cadet Leadership Academy is to develop leaders of character for the Total Army, other military services, public or private enterprises, and civic organizations for the good of the Nation and of the states and communities they serve. The SVP&S develops and implements strategies to accomplish this mission and to position UNG as the premier Title X Senior Military College among the six in the Nation.
Responsibilities- Executive responsible for all aspects of the Cadet Leadership Academy under the guidance of the president and in collaboration with other members of the SLT. Lead Cadet Leadership Academy strategic planning and lead the CLA to build and deliver the "Corps of the Future". In collaboration with Athletics and the College of Health Sciences & Professions, deliver a nationally-recognized, cross-disciplinary Peak Performance program that integrates all aspects of wellness for world-class training and preparation of all cadets, university student-athletes, and associated clinical preparation of HSP students.
- Lead the strategy, planning, budgeting, daily leadership, and supervision of all CLA units and operations, including the Commandant of Cadets, Professor of Military Science, Cadet Recruiting, Global Military Programs, and Cadet Career Success. Leads a team of staff and student cadet employees, inspiring productive individual and team efforts in achieving stated goals. Responsible to ensure all CLA protocols and procedures are properly led and executed in accordance with appropriate laws, regulations, and policies and in complete collaboration across all university units.
- Develop strategy to develop and leverage relationships to enhance recruiting and retention, cadet development, career pathways, and fundraising capacity for the Cadet Leadership Academy.
- Develop and manage relationships with partners and entities in the U.S. Government (including the Department of Defense, Department of State, Intelligence Community, and other agencies), international partner militaries and governments, and corporate domains to advance the CLA¿s strategic vision and to consistently position the University of North Georgia as the Army's senior military college.
- Partner with senior leadership, president's cabinet and deans as a thought partner to develop, implement, and assess CLA programming and academic integration. Develop, integrate and leverage data, data tools, artificial intelligence, and data trend analysis to drive decision making and planning.
- Integrate, manage, and leverage the activities of the Corps Advisory Council (CAC) and the North Georgia Corps of Cadets Association (NGCCA) to align with CLA and university strategy in coordination with the president.
- Initiate and provide advice for government and Department of Defense-related grants and contracts related to the university's military mission. All university, state appropriated and foundation budgets associated with the Cadet Leadership Academy.
- Graduate degree (masters or higher) required.
- Twenty or more years of progressively responsible leadership; selected candidate must be a retired U.S. Army officer.
- Extensive experience in planning, staff development, and supervision.
- Experience in a Higher Education institution is strongly preferred.
