This position is located in our brand-new Oakland City Center location, or remotely (within the state of California). We are flexible provided you are open to traveling to the Oakland office locations as needed.

About Your Work

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to lead our compensation and Total Rewards strategies for Altais Health (administrative) and Altais Medical Group (in clinic staff physicians and advanced practice professionals). The Senior Total Reward Partner reports to the Chief People and Engagement officer with enterprise-wide responsibility of our comprehensive Total Rewards strategy and programs. As the Senior Total Rewards Partner, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing competitive compensation packages and rewards programs to attract, retain, and motivate top-tier talent. The Senior Total Rewards Partner is responsible for analyzing plan designs, evaluating processes, and administering programs, policies, and procedures in the areas of compensation, health and welfare benefits and job architecture. For these programs you own compliance, employee communications, and continuous improvement to support the employee experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive compensation and Total Rewards strategies for Altais aligning with organizational goals and market competitiveness.
    • High emphasis on leading the administration of physician and advanced practice professionals’ compensation programs, including base salary structures, incentive/bonus plans, and benefits programs.
    • Stay abreast of regulatory changes and industry trends affecting physician compensation and benefits, recommending, and implementing necessary adjustments to maintain compliance and competitiveness.
  • Partner with senior leadership to provide strategic guidance on compensation-related matters, advising on best practices and potential improvements to support business objectives.
  • Responsible for Total Rewards mergers and acquisitions due diligence and acquired companies’ integration planning.
  • Conduct regular analysis and benchmarking studies to ensure the competitiveness and fairness of compensation and benefits programs in the healthcare industry.
  • Collaborate with HR, finance, and other relevant departments to ensure the effective integration of compensation and rewards strategies within the organization's overall framework.
  • Lead the communication and education efforts related to compensation and benefits programs, ensuring transparency, and understanding among medical staff.
  • Streamline, consolidate, automate, and partner with vendors as needed. Manage relationships with external vendors, consultants, and third-party providers related to compensation and benefits programs.
  • Administers employee welfare and retirement benefits processes to ensure timely and accurate enrollment, adherence to administrative procedures, and compliance with regulations.
  • Administer 401(k) program including timely deposits of 401(k), nondiscrimination testing process and any necessary follow-up actions.
    • Project in 2024 consolidating multiple 401(k) plans into one plan under one vendor.
  • Completes job evaluation analysis to determine appropriate salary grade, job level and FLSA status for new and reclassified current positions. Participates in the completion of multiple compensation surveys. Maintains the company job architecture in the HRIS.
  • Partner with peers to facilitate the performance management process including communication, training on merit cycle, promotions, and incentive planning.
  • Track and calculate accruals for incentives and benefits with Finance.
  • Create time off programs and policies (leave of absence, holidays, company-paid leaves), including administering them.
  • Complete audits, reports and reconciles records to ensure benefits data integrity and accuracy.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field is required; Master's degree or relevant certification (e.g., CCP, CECP) preferred.
  • 10 years of progressive experience in compensation and benefits management is required, preferably in a healthcare or medical setting, with a focus on physician and advance practice professional compensation.
  • Strong understanding of compensation principles, incentive plan design, healthcare regulations, and industry benchmarks.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, conduct market analyses, and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and influence decision-making at various levels of the organization.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience building sales incentive plans is highly preferred.
  • Experience with ADP is preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of California labor laws is required.

Final determination of a successful candidate’s starting pay will vary based on several factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements. We provide a competitive compensation package that recognizes your experience, credentials, and education alongside a robust benefits program to meet your needs. 

The anticipated pay range for this role is listed in our salary posting for transparency but may vary based on factors including the candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience, and geographic location. This base pay range is specific to California and can vary based on Bay Area, Metro LA, and Greater California regions which may not be applicable to other locations.

 Physical Requirements: Office Environment - roles involving part to full time schedule in Office Environment. Based in our physical offices and work from home office/deskwork – Activity level: Sedentary, frequency most of workday.
