Riverside Research is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to perform installation, configuration, and maintenance of the hardware and software infrastructure at the customers’ location. In this role, you will be a Information Technology (IT) Subject Matter Expert (SME) responsible for a diverse scope of Information Technology (IT) networks and systems. Your advanced knowledge of IT networks and systems will be used to devise technical solutions to a wide range of IT challenges in the customer environment. Experience in networking, cluster computing, and Linux & Windows system management is critical to success. You will work with government, IA contract team members, and researchers to determine appropriate methods and procedures for operations and protection of the IT network and systems. A Top Secret is required for this position.

Job Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex information technology problems using all available resources in a research environment.
- Configure and administer virtual network system environments
- Provide Tier I to Tier III support for all customer systems including, but not limited to, account/system maintenance, investigating user problems, troubleshooting network complications, and resolving complex IT issues.
- Author new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as required.
- Maintain existing SOPs for system and network administration activities
- Apply operating system updates and patches on a minimum monthly basis
- Assess all software solution requests. Manage risk assessments and approvals prior to installation
- Upgrade and configure software for each project or operational solution request
- Maintain and administer data retention and recovery solutions
- Install, configure, and maintain hardware in accordance with Department of Defense compliance standards and project requirements
- Install, configure, secure, and maintain network equipment
- Experience managing Windows server utilizing PowerShell;
- Create, change, and delete user accounts per request
- Manage and create objects in Access Directory
- Repair and recover data from hardware or software failures
- Maintain hardware and software inventory including all licensing
- Ensure information system security configuration guidelines are followed
- Recognize security risks and report violations appropriately.
- Deploy and maintain Security Technical Implementation (STIG) and SCCM to include Group Policy
- Coordinate all significant information technology changes with ISSM/ISSO
- Create, update, and manage networked and stand-alone machine images
- Experience with NAS/SAN systems to include configuration
- Manage and implement backup solution for LAN network
- Implementation of Virtual Machine (VMware or hypervisor)
- Manage and update Linux system RedHat and Ubuntu distros
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Active Top Secret Security Clearance (Must be able to obtain SAP customer access)
- A minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree, 3 years with a Master's degree, a PhD without experience, or High School Diploma with equivalent work experience is typically required for an employee at this level.
- COMPTIA Security+ certification or DoD 8570 IAT Level II equivalent certification
- 5+ years of experience in Network/System Administration
- 3+ years Linux administration experience
- Windows administration experience
- Python or similar scripting experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Familiarity/understanding of the Joint SAP Implementation Guide (JSIG)
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant technical discipline
- Relevant administrator certifications (MCSA, RHCSA,CCNA, VMware, Net5, etc)
- Relevant advanced security certifications (CISSP, CISM, etc,)
- RedHat Linux administration experience
- Working knowledge of SCCM and WSUS
- VMware experience
- Special Access Program (SAP) experience
- Direct experience working with Joint SAP Implementation Guide (JSIG) requirements
$115,000 - $140,000 This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience, location and other factors.
