They also conduct fight safety investigations and educate pilots on potential safety threats and more.

The emergency response team falls under this department as well.Job overview and responsibilitiesThe Senior Staff Representative - Regulatory Compliance and Dangerous Goods is responsible for supporting designated components of Regulatory Compliance programs at United. The SSR assists with data collection, tracking of deliverables, categorization and organization of materials, and other tasks to facilitate timely reporting and provisioning of information to regulatory authorities. This role will assist with cross-divisional communication and processes, scheduling and structure of standardized checkpoints, and identification of opportunities to automate, improve, and streamline process steps.The SSR position will also assist with designated aspects of the corporate Dangerous Goods Program, collaboration with DG support staff and other divisions, review of Dangerous Goods training curriculum, and tracking and reporting of Dangerous Goods related events.This role may interface directly with the FAA and other regulatory bodies to support Regulatory Compliance programs and requirements.Regulatory Compliance* Facilitates designated aspects of United's end-to-end Voluntary Disclosure program components to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and timelines* Partners with the divisions to capture corrective actions in areas found not to conform with company policy/procedure requirements* Provides support for Corrective Action Notices (CAN), Safety Assurance Letters (SAS), Requests for Information (RFI), and other requests from regulatory authorities* Assists with the compilation of designated aspects of written reports outlining assessments, root causes, and comprehensive fixes for appropriate regulatory authorities* Monitors corrective action commitments and implementationDangerous Goods Program* Assists with the collection and documentation of strategies to ensure Dangerous Goods are transported safely and in compliance with applicable regulations and standards* Supports designated components of design, development, and implementation of Dangerous Goods related policies, business processes, and procedures across the enterprise* Assists with the creation of audit and evaluation tools and systems that align with the Dangerous Goods Management Program* Monitors safety performance indicator data to identify trends and improvement opportunities and assists stakeholders with corrective action to address failures* Develops and maintains collaborative working relationships with DG support staff and subject matter experts within Airport Operations and Cargo, Flight Operations, Dispatch, Inflight, and Tech Ops Divisions, and affiliated support organizations to improve Dangerous Goods safety and compliance performance* Supports research and SME outreach to drive accuracy and relevance of employee training programs pertaining to Dangerous GoodsUnited values diverse experiences, perspectives, and we encourage everyone who meets the minimum qualifications to apply.

We are always looking for individuals who will bring something new to the table!QualificationsWhat's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):* Bachelor's degree or 4 years of relevant work experience* Technical, safety, or aviation-related discipline or equivalent level of work experience* 2 years experience with a major passenger, cargo, or regional carrier* Certification in quality or safety or 2 years of safety experience* Ability to collaborate, develop relationships, and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders while also corresponding with regulators* Must exhibit ability and initiative while also having the skills to work independently and multitask* Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship* Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification* Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the positionWhat will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):* Master's degree* 2 years of operational experience in working with pre-transportation and transportation-related Regulatory Compliance and/or Dangerous Goods processes and functions* IATA, DOT DG Specialist; certified as a Dangerous Goods Specialist by the FAA* Solid understanding of ICAO, IATA, 14CFR, and 49CFR hazardous materials regulationsUnited Airlines is an equal-opportunity employer.
