About the Role: As our Senior Staff Accountant, you will oversee the financial and accounting activities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficient financial management throughout our operations. This role is crucial for maintaining our financial health and integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and review monthly financial statements to ensure transparency and accuracy.
- Account Reconciliation: Oversee the reconciliation of general ledger accounts and bank statements.
- Compliance Management: Ensure compliance with FERC, GAAP, and internal policies.
- System Oversight: Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls and accounting systems.
- Audit Support: Coordinate and provide support during external audits.
- Issue Resolution: Address and resolve complex accounting discrepancies.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and mentor junior accounting staff, fostering a culture of growth and excellence.
- Advisory: Offer strategic accounting guidance to management and other departments, supporting broader District objectives.
Ideal Candidate:
- Holds a bachelor's degree in accounting.
- Possesses a minimum of five years of accounting experience, ideally in a senior role.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
- Proficient in accounting software.
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP.
- Demonstrates strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent in communication, presentation, and interpersonal relations.
- Able to work both independently and collaboratively in team settings.
