The general salary range for the position is $93,000-$112,000. Salary offers will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, skills, training and education.
The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nation’s most effective animal advocacy organization, is seeking Senior Specialist, Program Planning and Facilitation for its Affiliate, Humane Society International (HSI) in the Programs and Policy department. This position will enable programmatic success and innovation by collaborating with a wide set of internal stakeholders and facilitating short- and long-term Planning and annual budgeting.
This position will be responsible for:
- Collaborating with the HSI Senior Vice President Programs & Policy, program teams, country offices, and other internal stakeholders through annual meetings and monthly calls to ensure that programmatic goals, strategies, tactics, activities and messages are properly developed, memorialized, and updated;
- Coordinating annual budget planning process across HSI program and country offices budget departments, confirming that programmatic work is strategically resourced to maximize impact;
- Developing and maintaining a multi-national policy docket to track legislative and regulatory actions across all HSI programs and geographies;
- Collaborating with leadership to execute on processes and policies across programs and country offices as directed by operational departments (such as organizing submissions for new position requests and promotion justifications and assisting in implementation of job description updates as directed by HR);
- Performing other duties or responsibilities, as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in social impact strategy, business administration, behavioral economics or in another related field, or equivalent work experience required. Master’s degree preferred;
- A minimum of six (6) years of experience in program development, administration, monitoring, and/or evaluation required;
- Demonstrated strategic thinking, critical thinking, and analytical skills, as well as the ability to handle complex situations and demonstrate sound judgment and problem-solving;
- Flexible, willing to learn, and anticipates the needs of self and staff;
- Ability to set a positive tone for employees through Planning and meeting facilitation;
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines; high energy, self-motivated and proactive;
- Ability to manage issues requiring problem resolution and conflict management with excellent interpersonal and intervention skills;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Diplomatic and interpersonal skills to engage with international partners;
- Attention to detail and commitment to excellence, demonstrated by the delivery of quality and timely outcomes;
- Willing and able to travel;
- Strong interest in animal protection issues preferred.
