Overview:
Goldbelt Hawk designs, develops, and implements comprehensive solutions for problem spaces, including computer security, scalable architectures, advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, and network/data center operations. Specializing in local and enterprise-level incident response and forensic analysis, Hawk's personnel deliver threat analysis and reporting while implementing solutions based on mature planning and development practices.

Summary:
We are looking for a Senior Information Security Specialist to support the Information Technology Support Services (ITSS) under the BIA. This position will shall develop system database requirements for the NPS telecommunications inventory. This role will work with the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to identify those policies, regulations, procedures, and documentation requirements that are needed to implement or enhance cybersecurity and privacy guidance and/or policies within NPS.

Responsibilities:
Essential Job Functions:
  • Will research existing related Government and industry policy, perform requirements gathering and analysis relative to the impact of the implementation of the policy on the technical operations of the Service, and will produce draft documents for review by the CISO and other relevant staff.
  • As required by the CISO, the contractor will produce, edit, or format any other documents for publication that are required for the success of the cybersecurity and privacy program within NPS.
  • Assist in developing and tracking and follow-up actions, reports, and activities related to Plan of Action and Milestone (POA&M) items related to cybersecurity and privacy matters.
  • Be responsible for supporting the Associate Privacy Officer who is responsible for full Bureau Privacy Program management, leads Bureau Privacy Program activities, and is the primary point of contact with the Departmental Privacy Officer, Federal, Tribal, state and local government offices, organizations, and the public in addressing privacy issues.
  • Support the APO in overseeing and managing the Bureau privacy program activities to include, compliance with the Privacy Act of 1974, the E-Government Act of 2002, Federal Information Security Modernization Act (FISMA), Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the Electronic Communications Privacy Act, Government Paperwork Elimination Act, Information Protection and Security Act, Identity Theft Prevention Act, Online Privacy Protection and Security Act, Social Security Number Protection Act, OMB Circular A-130 and privacy policies, National Institute of Standards and Technology guidance and standards in coordination with the Departmental Privacy Officer.
Qualifications:
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
  • Strong technical skills in network security, endpoint security, cryptography, and security technologies (e.g., firewalls, VPNs, encryption, access control).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to analyze complex security issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality in all aspects of work.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least 3 - 4 years of related experience.
  • Proven experience in Information Security, with a focus on risk management, security operations, and incident response, preferably in a corporate or enterprise environment.
  • Experience with security frameworks and standards.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check.
  • Must be a US citizen
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Previous experience in a senior or lead role in systems administration is preferred.
