The Senior Scientific Software Engineer will help lead development of commercial Scientific Software in all phases while supporting company efforts to update and build world class modeling and simulation programs.

Location: This position can be 100% remote or hybrid near one of our locations (Buffalo, NY; Durham, NC; Lancaster, CA; Paris, FR; or Pittsburgh, PA)

Job Responsibilities:

• Design and develop new software products
• Improve and enhance existing software products
• Contribute toward building our common scientific libraries
• Conduct in-house research and contracted studies for external clients
• Discuss software application issues with clients
• Originate new product modules or novel applications
• Extend current programs and their application
• Provide guidance to others in task implementation and hypothesis generation
• Troubleshoot issues during development lifecycle using tools to measure quality and performance
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• 8+ years of Scientific Software development using modern C++
• Experience in numerical methods, mathematical modeling and optimization with preference to applications in biosimulation or cheminformatics
• Expert in object oriented programming
• Experience in Python or R desired
• Experience with Qt programming is desired but not essential
• Proven experience in all phases of the software development lifecycle
• Display flexibility, prioritization, multi-tasking on assigned projects
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Very detail-oriented
• Self-motivated and willing to take on challenges
• Effective critical-thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Work well independently and as part of the team
• Maintain a positive attitude while interacting with colleagues and clients
• Occasional travel for meetings and trainings

Education:

• Master’s degree in applied mathematics, biomedical or chemical engineering, chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, computer science or related field
• PhD in applied mathematics, biomedical or chemical engineering, chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, computer science or related field preferred
