Position Summary:


We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Research Project Manager.


NYU Langone Health is conducting a multi-center multi-component project, EDs LEading the Transformation of Alzheimers and Dementia Care (ED-LEAD). The goal of the project is to turn an ED visit from a crisis point into an opportunity to improve the well-being of persons living with dementia (PLWD) and their care partners. ED-LEAD will be embedded in a diverse group of 14 health systems, including 82 EDs with substantial racial and ethnic diversity. Due to the hospital-level randomization of the three ED-LEAD interventions, 2 optimization sites and 40 randomized sites will implement the Emergency Care Redesign (ECR) model. ECR will re-engineer acute care to include core components of dementia care management and provide structured reinforcements for the ED workforce, including nurse, physician, and social work providers.


The Project Manager will work with study PIs, Co-Investigators, and research staff to ensure that projects run smoothly. They will report to the Assistant Director for the Administrative Core. They will oversee and manage IRB and regulatory applications, budgets, and reporting. The Project Manager will also be responsible for data management and analysis and preparing publications and presentations. They will help to lead a team of research staff to collect data, develop research strategies, and implement study protocols.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

Works collaboratively with Investigators and Research Team; Oversees research staff to provide deliverables related to project activities.

 

Uses judgment to provide management of project activities to PIs in the planning, preparation, organization, analysis, and delivering of project activities

 

Organizes and leads regular project meetings

 

Develops and reviews study protocols to assist in the planning and implementation of study to ensure completion of study activities in adherence with timeline and intervention fidelity

 

Supervises direct reports, including scheduling and monitoring day-to-day study related activities and tasks

 

Monitors implementation and data collection for ECR quality improvement project at all 42 emergency departments; follows-up with Research Staff to understand factors associated with success of difficulty in program implementation and project completion; creates and maintains reports to track study progress and ensure timeliness and quality expectations are met.

 

Assists with data analysis, data management, and manuscript drafting, in conjunction with study PIs and Co-Investigators

 

Prepares progress reports to funding agencies and presentations to sponsoring and regulatory agencies. Prepares and provides reports to all necessary parties (e.g., the principal investigator, sponsoring agency, etc.) on the progress of the study as needed.

 

Participates in administration of project budget under direction of the Assistant Director and Program Director

 

Preparing, submitting, and maintaining compliance of protocols and supporting documents with regulatory bodies IRB, including familiarity with IRB Reliance Agreements, Central IRBs, and per patient -based study billing models


Managing all Central IRB needs for the ECR project and reporting up to the Administrative Core team, the Implementation Core, Team, and the Statistical Analysis Core

 

Ensure project adherence to Data Use Agreements with all partnering subcontracts and vendors; tracking the progress of such Agreements and their associated sample/data transfers alignment with Administrative Core and Statistical Analysis Core directives negotiations; acting as liaison between ECR project and researchers, and recipients at other institutions
 

Monitoring patient and care partner engagement at each implementation site; verifying billing at per patient level by providing weekly reports to the Administrative Core team
 

Establishing and maintaining research files and documentation pertaining to regulatory requirements for clinical trials, including CVs, financial disclosure forms, licenses, GCP trainings, and tracking expiration dates of all the above
 

Working closely with the Research Project Managers in all ED-LEAD projects and Cores, research staff and investigators to assure that all regulatory documents for the research studies are up-to-date and research programs are operationally successful
 

Attending regular research team meetings and updates staff and investigators on the status of regulatory submission and amendments
 

Providing training and education to other personnel and participate in centralized activities of the department or institution
 

Be able to summarize and explain results, understand the root data used to generate them, and articulate the major steps of the analyses and the related components that go into them.
 

Individual is expected to have an astute understanding of the material presented in journal articles, policy reports, and presentations that result from this research area.
 

Translate intellectual aims into concrete operating procedures and problem-solving for pragmatic clinical research implementation at each emergency department with accompanying plans in concert with the Implementation Core team.
 

Identify need for and direct background research as needed to aid in project management, publication, and proposal development.
 

Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and institutional policies as required.
Mentor junior staff by providing guidance in the development of professional skills and helping them to understand how analytic and methodological undertakings link to project deliverables.
 

Contribute to team-wide priority-setting for staff.


Identify, develop and give trainings meant to improve employees' technical and professional skills necessary for the research portfolio.

 

Formulate and implement effective strategies for motivating teams and helping to ensure high achievement among all individuals on them.


Contribute to leadership of those engaged in research management, including setting policies, advancing professional development, and driving new staff hiring and growth.

 

Additional Position Specific Responsibilities:


Perform additional duties as assigned that fall within the reasonable scope of this position as member of the Research Operations Team.

 

Minimum Qualifications:


To qualify you must have a Bachelor's degree and 7+ years related experience
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications
Project management experience with a range of different actors such as other managers, data professionals, researchers, and those on other functional teams such as engineers.
Incumbent must be able to work independently, have strong strategic and critical thinking skills, and must be able to take multiple priorities and translate them into project completion through expert planning.
Exceptional oral and written communication skills, in particular the ability to convey intricate and complicated intellectual material and instructions to individuals of various skills and backgrounds.
High-level relationship management skills communicating with stakeholders at multiple levels, such as senior leaders in emergency departments nationally, researchers, administrators, and other external audiences.
Analytically perceptive with a keen eye for detail and the ability to understand quickly how details relate to the big picture.

 

Preferred Qualifications:


Demonstrated experience for developing systems and diagnostics that can be used to help elevate management, execution, and tracking in complex Research Projects.
Must exhibit strong desire and ability to learn intellectual content to facilitate highly complex scientific projects.
Excellent interpersonal skills; a cooperative team player, energetic, able to develop productive relationships.
Proven success managing and leading dynamic teams as well as influencing and rallying diverse stakeholders against a common goal.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and collaborative environment to manage multiple priorities while coordinating resources needed to meet deadlines.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $92,066.00 - $100,696.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
