Job Overview

The Senior Program Manager is a member of the Center for the Evaluation of Value and Risk in Health (CEVR), a part of the Institute for Clinical Research and Health Policy Studies at Tufts Medical Center in Boston.

This individual will have experience and expertise in project management, research, and communications. Principle duties and responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement project management processes to monitor workflows required to ensure that projects and proposals adhere to deadlines. This work requires understanding of scientific and contractual aims of the projects.
  • Coordinate key personnel and staffing efforts and working with Principal Investigators to ensure alignment of deliverables, timelines, and staffing. Communicate and coordinate with ICRHPS research administrator to ensure compliance with contracts.
  • Manage external communications efforts for CEVR. Collaborate with CEVR leadership to formulate strategic plans for outreach, including newsletters, blogs, press releases and other related activities. In addition to skills in program communications, this work requires an understanding of the health policy environment.
  • Identify and prioritize opportunities for growth and formulate plans to pursue these opportunities.
  • As part of program management team, participate in operation of special projects, such as symposia and meetings.
  • Providing management level support and guidance to CEVR Director and participate in strategic planning initiatives for the Center.
  • Collaborate with the research administration team, CEVR Director, and faculty principal investigators (PI) to provide support during proposal development, contract negotiations, and the execution of funded research activities. Build relationships with funders and collaborators.
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested or required.


Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Master’s degree AND Five (5) years of experience managing academic or research programs;

OR Bachelor’s degree AND Seven (7) years of experience managing academic or research programs.


Preferred Qualifications
:

1. It is preferred that Master's Degree is in Health Policy, Health Economics, Decision Science, or a related field.


Skills & Abilities:

1. Proficiency with MS Office, including the ability to develop spreadsheets, presentations and reports, and overall computer proficiency required.

2. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to ensure clear and consistent communication with internal and external stakeholders.

4. Excellent judgment, highly professional manner with an ability to maintain sensitivity, confidentiality, and tactfulness.

5. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and strengthen positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders and staff, solid customer service orientation and ability to work in a team setting.

6. Ability to identify issues and implement effective resolution strategies to ensure smooth coordination of program and project requirements.

7. Financial analytical skills needed for assisting with the development of center grants and contracts, ability to understand research accounting principles.

8. Demonstrated ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects simultaneously and complete assignments in a timely manner required.

9. Ability to work in deadline situations.

Working conditions/physical demands:

Normal office work environment. Work requires continuous typing/computer keying.
