Mark43's mission is to empower communities and their governments with new technologies that improve the safety and quality of life for all. We build powerful, scalable, and elegant software that sets a new standard for the tools upon which our first responders rely. Our users are diverse, and we are therefore committed to embracing diversity of thought and experience within our team.

Having cutting edge technology is only half the battle when trying to bring law enforcement to the 21st century: our operations team tackles every problem our computers can't. As a People Operations Generalist you will work across multiple operations teams by owning internal processes and projects that help the company run smoothly. Our People Ops Generalist thrive on variability, and love wearing all the hats necessary to achieve their goals. They may find themselves collaborating with managers and senior leadership on strategic people initiatives or rolling out a new piece of HR software, or revamping a performance review process. Most of all, our operations team keeps a positive attitude under pressure and always drives to get the job done.

What you can expect to work on

  • Identify and handle employee issues quickly and sensitively, exercising good judgment and discretion
  • Coach managers on performance management, feedback, employee development and career pathing
  • Build relationships with senior business leaders to offer thought leadership on organizational and people-related strategy and execution
  • Be a resource for individual contributors across partner teams, successfully influencing others by providing direction, knowledge, and support to create a high-performing organization
  • Build strong trusted relationships and credibility across all levels of business line management
  • Partner with the People Ops team to optimize and advise on performance management, hiring, organizational design, compensation and internal processes
  • Be involved in the design and execution strategies for how we staff, onboard, develop, motivate, retain, and organize work
  • Synthesize insights and observations from across the organization to identify improvement areas in HR processes and propose solutions for addressing them
  • Involvement in culture initiatives (ie. social outings, volunteering events, developing policies that directly impact our culture.)
  • Advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion across the organization and in all practices of HR
  • Participating in weekly People Operations meetings and taking on new projects with different team members
  • Becoming a trusted resource for employees (across all locations) to come to with operations or facilities related questions or concerns
  • Working diligently to create a first class work environment and employee experience
  • Working towards a worthwhile mission with a team of friendly and intelligent coworkers
  • Demonstrate flexibility and agility in undertaking ad hoc projects as assigned

What we expect from you

  • 3-5 years prior experience on a People Operations or HR team in a growing organization
  • Prior experience working in a fast-paced work environment
  • Familiarity with fundamental HR policies and an interest in growing your HR skill set
  • Capacity for strategic and operational thinking: you can focus on the big picture while never missing the small stuff
  • Proactively communicating needs with our People Ops department and business management
  • Demonstrated sound judgment, and the ability to negotiate critical situations appropriately, with poise, under difficult circumstances
  • Taking initiative to complete your tasks, and speaking up when faced with roadblocks
  • Enthusiasm for conducting quality research that allows you to plan for and accomplish tasks and projects effectively
  • Comfortability using Google Suite & Microsoft Office, as well as other productivity software such as Jira and Confluence
  • Willingness to empathize with others who may be unlike yourself
  • Coming to work with an open mind and leaving your ego at the door
  • A passion for helping people, improving processes, and being an everyday hero

What you can expect from us

  • Mentorship from startup veterans and learning industry best practices
  • Building mission critical and socially responsible software to enable first responders to better serve their communities
  • Learning about areas of the Mark43 business and what it takes to keep a rapidly-growing startup running smoothly
  • Meaningful work that will aid in the effective scaling of Mark43
  • Constant collaboration with numerous Mark43 teams, including Operations, Marketing, Sales, Finance, and Legal
  • A team that respects and embraces your ideas and expertise
  • Coworkers that are motivated by pursuing excellence, rather than the prospect of personal gain
  • A workplace dedicated to supporting and bettering public safety and government agencies

During the initial 3 month onboarding phase, successful candidates will be required to attend the office 3 to 4 days per week. Following this period, regular in-office attendance of 2 to 3 days per week will be expected.
