We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support our customer’s IT operations in Norfolk, VA. The effort provides IT services, audio/video support, application development, Network Engineering, operations, information assurance, and knowledge management support. This position will be on-site and will require an active Secret Clearance. 

Senior Network Engineer Primary Duties:

• Conducts high-level technical support for Video Teleconferencing/voice/data network systems, creates and maintains network documentation, maintains hardware and software standards, and works projects as needed in order to upgrade to new and/or improved communication equipment and procedures.
• Perform hands-on configuration of CISCO IOS on Cisco routers, switches and firewalls.
• Analyzes network activity and network problems to discover and prevent systematic errors. Provides support for network connectivity or related network issues for the command. Recommends network design changes/enhancements for improved systems availability and performance.
• Plans and monitors the installation/upgrades of network equipment and associated infrastructure.
• Analyzes network activity and network problems to discover and prevent systematic errors. Recommends network design changes/enhancements for improved systems availability and performance.
• Troubleshoots diagnoses and resolves network problems.
• Researches, analyzes and recommends the implementation of software or hardware changes to rectify any network deficiencies or to enhance network performance.
• Analyzes facilities bandwidth requirements and system interdependencies.
• Develops capacity planning models.
• Performs planned testing activities and ensures technical criteria are met.
• Assesses network performance to ensure that it meets the present and future needs of the command. Provides network planning recommendations to management.
• Use of enterprise system monitoring and management tools such as Wireshark, Websense, Solar Winds and NMAP.
• Uses commercial enterprise-level tools and products to provide network services, including: firewalls, Cisco Firepower, Cisco ISE, TACACS+, IPS/IDS, DNS, DHCP, web security, ACS, VPN and NAC.

Senior Network Engineer Education and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, engineering, computer science or other related field and 2 years of related experience, or AA/AS related field or Computer Network Administration Certification and 6 years of related experience. In lieu of formal education, 10 years of experience specifically related to the below qualification requirements.
• Thorough knowledge of the Defense Information Systems Agency published Security Technical Information Guidance (requirements and implementation/compliance process.
• Knowledge of CND compliance requirements for all managed networks and systems.
• Strong working familiarity with Cisco IOS, EIGRP, BGP, GRE, IPS/IDS, TACACS+, ACS and OSPF, with demonstrated hands-on experience configuring Cisco routers, switches and firewalls.
• Must be well versed with the advanced engineering and administration of multiprotocol routers, multilayer switches, network security devices and network management systems.

Essential Requirements:

• US Citizenship.
• Active Secret Clearance.
• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA). Candidates who do not currently possess the CCNA certification, but meet all other minimum requirements, may be considered for this position. If selected, the candidate will be required to obtain the required certification within twelve (12) month time period.

The employee will continuously be required to repeat the same hand, arm, or finger motion many times. Manual and finger dexterity are essential to this position. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, depth perception and telling differences among colors. The employee must be able to communicate through speech with clients and the public. Hearing requirements include conversation in both quiet and noisy environments. Lifting may require floor to waist, waist to shoulder, or shoulder to overhead movement of up to 20 pounds. This position demands tolerance for various levels of mental stress.
