VTG is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to work On-Site in Stafford/Quantico, VA.
Job Description:
VTG has an immediate opening for a Senior Network Engineer to work in support of the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS) Operations and Support Services (OSS) program in Quantico, VA. The ideal candidate will have a deep technical background; experience with complex systems, and the ability to work in a team environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, maintain, update, and refine networks
- Implement, manage, and monitor Cisco ASA firewalls
- Troubleshoot and resolve network issues and outages
- Document networking configurations, diagrams, and rack layouts.
- Evaluate network performance and make appropriate recommendations
- Examine network vulnerabilities and determine actions to mitigate them
- Provide off-hours support as needed for system upgrades, patches, and maintenance activities
- Recommend, schedule, and/or implement repairs within the network environment
- Schedule and perform backups on all network components
- Conduct functional, interoperability, and security testing
- Analyze system performance for potential security problems
- Participate in technical incident response and security assessment activities
- Ensure network components maintain compliance with NIST security requirements
- Develop network documentation such as diagrams and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Provide network and system administration support to the CODIS Helpdesk; ability to perform analysis of CODIS applications and lab operational environments
- Deploy and install the CODIS software and upgrades to the latest software baseline
- Support labs with other CODIS-related software and processes to include Trellix ePO, MS WSUS, backup configurations, etc.
- Support other system administration / engineering tasks as needed
Required Skills :
- Active Top Secret clearance
- 5+ years of experience with Cisco ASA firewalls including VPN configurations, implementing changes, and monitoring
- Experience configuring, hardening, and managing Cisco switches and routers
- Experience documenting network and rack diagrams
- IPSEC VPN tunnel management
- Knowledge of TCP/IP networking
- Hands on experience in the administration of Cisco Networking equipment.
- Security scanning and remediation of vulnerabilities
- Maximize network security by monitoring patching processes and improving as necessary
- Expertise with Cisco fabric ACI and configuration of ACLs
- Port security management
- Manage SSL/TLS Certificates associated with the Certificate Authority (CA)
- Interact directly with customers for troubleshooting of certificate and key related issues
- Perform and interpret Wireshark captures
- Comprehend networking concepts like routing (Static & Dynamic), VLANs, Switch-Router Configuration, AAA services, virtual networking, etc.
Desired Skills:
- Working knowledge of Active Directory, SQL Server, IIS, Group Policy, digital certificates, multi-factor authentication, DNS and DHCP to be able to troubleshoot installation and functional issues within various environments
- Knowledge of Splunk Monitor
- Automation of administrative tasks using PowerShell
