Position: Senior Medical Scheduler
Pay: $20-$23/hr (based on experience)
Job Type: Full-time, Contract-To-Hire
Hours: M-F, 8-5
Location: 100% onsite, Texas Medical Center
A Day in the Life:
- Coordinate scheduling activities for OBGYN medical procedures, surgeries, and consultations ensuring optimal utilization of resources and efficient patient flow.
- Supervise and train junior scheduling staff, providing guidance on best practices and adherence to protocols.
- Manage patient appointment scheduling, rescheduling, and cancellations in accordance with clinic policies and physician availability.
- Liaise with medical staff, administrative personnel, and patients to resolve scheduling conflicts and address concerns promptly.
- Utilize electronic health records (EHR) systems and scheduling software to maintain accurate patient records and appointment schedules.
- Monitor and optimize scheduling templates to accommodate physician preferences, patient needs, and clinic workflows.
- Collaborate with billing and insurance departments to verify patient eligibility, obtain authorizations, and ensure accurate billing information.
- Implement and enforce scheduling policies and procedures to enhance efficiency, minimize wait times, and improve patient satisfaction.
- Stay updated on industry regulations, compliance requirements, and technological advancements related to medical scheduling practices.
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings to discuss scheduling challenges, process improvements, and patient care coordination initiatives.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical scheduling
- In-depth knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and healthcare regulations.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems and scheduling software.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple schedules simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with medical staff, patients, and administrative personnel.
- Leadership abilities to mentor and supervise junior scheduling staff.
- Problem-solving skills to address scheduling conflicts and optimize clinic workflows.
- Attention to detail to maintain accurate patient records and appointment schedules.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Understanding of insurance verification processes and billing procedures related to medical scheduling.
