ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Oversee Human Resources Functions (40%):
    • Manage the implementation, administration, and dissemination of information related to all Human Resources aspects, including employment, labor relations, training, management development, employee programs, workers' compensation, compensation, and benefits.
    • Ensure compliance with state, federal, and company policies, procedures, and regulations (e.g., FLSA, FMLA, EEO, ADA, Title VII, SWA).
  2. Manage Recruitment and Staffing (20%):
    • Oversee the recruitment, selection, placement, and orientation of exempt, non-exempt, and hourly employees to achieve optimal staffing levels with the selection of the best-qualified candidates.
  3. Union Contract Administration (10%):
    • If applicable, administer company union contracts to foster strong labor/management relations, ensure compliance with contractual provisions, and maintain smooth operations.
  4. Safety Program Development (10%):
    • Develop and implement safety programs to ensure compliance with GSF standards and regulatory agencies (e.g., OSHA, DOT), promoting a safe and healthy environment for employees.
  5. Performance Management and Appraisal (10%):
    • Administer performance management and appraisal programs to ensure their effectiveness in fostering employee development.
  6. Employee Relations and Conflict Resolution (20%):
    • Investigate employee grievances, harassment, or discrimination concerns, taking necessary actions to resolve problems and ensure a safe and productive work environment.
  7. Crisis Management and Compliance (Adherence to Food Safety, Quality, and Legal Compliance):
    • Adhere to food safety, quality, and legal compliance standards. In crisis situations (e.g., product recall, fire), delegate responsibilities as outlined in the Crisis Communications and Management Guide.
  8. Other Duties:
    • Perform other related and assigned duties as necessary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education/Certification:
    • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a labor-related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience:
    • 7 to 10 years of relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Knowledge of General Human Resources policies and procedures (Expert).
    • Knowledge of Labor contracts and labor union environments (Expert).
    • Knowledge of OSHA, EEO, ADA, and related employment, labor, and safety rules and regulations (Expert).
    • Knowledge of GSF concepts, procedures, and regulations (Expert).
    • Knowledge of Management and supervisory concepts and techniques (Expert).
    • Journey-level knowledge in Recruitment and employment practices.
    • Journey-level knowledge in Relevant division concepts, procedures, and regulations.
    • Journey-level knowledge in Employee relations.
    • Journey-level knowledge in Training and employee development.
    • Journey-level knowledge in PC word processing/spreadsheet software.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Negotiate effectively with labor unions (if a union facility).
  • Work effectively in a general business environment with a focus on high levels of quality and customer service.
  • Interpret labor or Human Resources anomalies and identify appropriate solutions.
  • Communicate and coordinate effectively with employees at all organizational levels verbally and in writing.
  • Prepare a variety of comprehensive administrative and technical documents and reports.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to management, external agencies, and employees.
  • Act in accordance with GSF's Values and Creed.

LEADERSHIP/MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Provide oversight of Human Resources programs serving several hundred employees.
  • Supervise a small HR staff.
