Job description

Rapid Response Specialist

The desired candidate will have a keen understanding of child development and infant mental health in relation to observable behavioral concerns within an early childhood educational setting. This candidate will be knowledgeable of the various service and community supports available to young children and their families.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the development and implementation of a Rapid Response Team (RRT) in support of a 3-year grant awarded through the Office of Child Development and Early Learning (OCDEL) and in partnership with the local Early Learning Resource Center (ELRC).
  • Help facilitate and support partnerships across various service delivery systems including early intervention and behavioral health programs to strengthen referral networks.
  • Promote principles of early relational health, social-emotional development of young children, and family engagement while partnering with early childhood education (ECE) center staff and families to utilize positive approaches to addressing challenging behaviors within the early childhood educational setting.
  • Provide support to teachers and interventions for children to retain at-risk-of-expulsion children. Prevent the need for community based, mental health services when not deemed appropriate by a psychological evaluation.
  • Maintain knowledge in early childhood developmental needs, including physical, behavioral, and psychosocial needs to determine if developmental deficits are responsible for challenging behaviors.
  • Participate in data collection and screening tools to support the RRT approach.
  • Partner with ECE staff, families, and children to develop relationships and address environmental considerations. Help all children become successful in early social settings and remain in their current ECE placement.
Qualifications:
