Salary:

Avation Medical is actively recruiting a Senior Director / Vice President ofMarket Access and Payer Relations to champion comprehensive commercial payer coverage and patient accessibility of the Vivally System, the first FDA-cleared, closed-loop wearable neuromodulation system to treat symptoms of overactive bladder in adults. The SD/VP will play a pivotal role in formulating, executing, and optimizing reimbursement and Market Access strategies for the Company with a primary objective to establish and expand coverage with commercial payers, employer groups, and government payers in the US market. The ultimate goal is to make the Vivally System widely accessible to all patient suffering from symptoms of OAB.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop strategy for and execute payer account targeting to enhance market awareness and secure positive payer coverage policy for Vivally by engaging key stakeholders within National, Regional, and Local US health plans and establish networking across the payer landscape.
  • Formulate strategic and tactical plans to ensure optimal patient Access and affordability across all payers types in the US market, including commercial payers (national and regional), managed care organizations, employers and employers groups, and government payers such as Medicare, Medicaid, VA and DOD.
  • Cultivate and maintain effective relationships with the payer community, including key opinion leaders and influential organizations related to reimbursement.
  • Develop positive coverage policies, negotiate preferential contract terms for Vivally, and assist in contract negotiations and administration.
  • Identify and proactively address barriers to reimbursement and coverage, implementing clear processes for claims submissions and management of denials or delayed payments.
  • Collaborate with marketing, medical affairs and executive leadership to achieve business goals and align on product value proposition, evidence generation plans, payer messaging and economic analyses for payers.
  • Monitoring market trends and changes in the Market Access environment to inform corporate strategy and long-term plans.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, patient confidentiality (HIPAA), and all relevant laws and regulations.


Qualifications

  • 8+ years in medical device or health care reimbursement including both commercial and Medicare payers.
  • Experience in at least one durable medical equipment (DME) product (desired).
  • Strong knowledge within the medical industry to influence payer coverage, contracting, and reimbursement.
  • Demonstrated success in influencing changes in third-party payer policy or contracting decisions (achievement of new coverage or expanded coverage or elimination of a reimbursement barrier)
  • High level understanding of payer methodologies (coding, coverage, contracting, clinical criteria, payment)
  • Ability to develop and articulate a strategic vision and implement tactical steps to achieve goals
  • Strong existing relationships with key decision makers within regional and national commercial payers
  • Thorough knowledge of reimbursement policy, government regulations (Medicare/Medicaid/VA), and health economics outcomes research (HEOR)
  • Ability to leverage clinical knowledge to further reimbursement objectives
  • Proven leadership and management skills, with the superior interpersonal skills to influence, inspire, and engage staff
  • Evidence of leadership and a management style characterized by vision, teamwork, preparation, communication and negotiation
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with C-Suite executive
  • Experience with the launch of a disruptive medical technology and leadership in a start up environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Health Administration, Health Economics or relevant fields or equivalent work experience or a clinical degree (RN, MD, etc…)
  • Ability to travel as required (~ 40%)


  • Physical Requirements
    • Typical physical demands include a high degree of dexterity to produce materials on a PC, extensive sitting and frequent walking, occasional lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds.
