Our biosecurity and public health initiative, Concentric by Ginkgo, launched a nationwide emergency response to the COVID-19 pandemic, providing end-to-end pathogen monitoring services to schools, communities, and travelers. As we continue to scale Concentric, our work is also evolving into new and exciting directions, from global expansion to the integration of new technologies and capabilities, including our Traveler-Based Genomic Surveillance Plan with the CDC.
Responsibilities
- Determine strategies for creating long-term funding for future biosecurity programs
- Support and drive creation of biosecurity programs appealing to national security by applying expert knowledge in the legislative funding process
- Leverage existing relationships with C-suite level decision makers at federal national security agencies and to educate and shape Ginkgo’s biosecurity mission
- Advise and assist Ginkgo CEO with national security themes, processes, and ‘inside’ DC knowledge to aid on national security efforts including the commission
- Work with the CEO and GM of Biosecurity to determine long-term visions for how to instill democratic values into our technology and how biosecurity contributes to that
- Lead the GM of Biosecurity’s council of advisors by partnering with them to determine roles and responsibilities of advisors and desired strategic outputs; manage relationships with advisors
- Identify key legislative, executive branch, and foreign targets for education and funding and carry out a campaign plan with the General Manager (GM) of Biosecurity by briefing and pitching these groups
- Partner with the GM to identify other companies to potentially acquire or work with in order to bring to market national security products faster and represent Ginkgo before those companies
- Identify and lead efforts with customer targets for Concentric’s transition from public health to national security
- Build and leverage existing relationships as needed with ambassador- and senior counsel- level officials at allied embassies, getting meetings and opportunities for engagement
- Provide guidance to other teams within Ginkgo cell engineering and biosecurity about how to bring to market existing products for national security customers including Bioradar, ENDAR, BIOINT, and cell engineering opportunities
- Determine strategic themes for outreach and marketing to a national security audience
- Devise a media plan for national security audiences, including writing content, identifying target audiences, and leveraging existing relationships with top-notch national security reporters
- Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators
- Tackle the most urgent and immediate problems facing the team and business as a whole
- Work collectively and cross functionally with the operational teams (Delivery, Client Management, Legal, Finance) to cultivate and grow national security accounts
- Communicate the value of the Concentric Tech and cell engineering platforms by understanding the intricacies of the product offering and the science
- Ensure team shares client feedback with product team to help drive product road map build out discussions
- Ensure team manages end-to-end client relationship, from contract to billing/invoicing
- Contribute to the Concentric and overall Ginkgo culture
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Business Development, client relationship management
- Experience managing a team, demonstrated leadership skills
- Prior Government experience
- Observed and demonstrated success as a Business Development lead
Preferred Capabilities and Experience
- MBA or relevant master’s degree in public policy or government affairs, preferred
- Proven track record of project ownership and results orientation in a team setting
- Strong communication skills with the ability to speak with C-level clients
- Strong analytical skills, with an ability to develop fact-based and informed opinions
- Strong quantitative and negotiations skills
- Proven track record of exceeding revenue expectations
- Business Development, Consulting, Operations, Platform Sales experience highly preferred
- Excellent communication skills, emotional intelligence, and an ability to work across organizational boundaries
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
- Proficient financial acumen
Total compensation for this role is market driven, with a starting salary of $190k+, as well as company stock awards. Base pay is ultimately determined based on a candidate's skills, expertise, and experience.
