Optum applies evidence-based approach in provision of exceptional patient care. This role works with Population Health leaders to drive strategies and objectives by designing analytical tools for clinical management and staff productivity; as well as directly supporting various employed and contracted specialties that provide wraparound services for our patients. Focus include program and intervention performance assessment, development of metrics, reporting to leadership. This position reports into the Sr. Manager of Population Health Analytics and involves significant exposure to Optum's regional VP-level leaders, Senior Medical Directors, as well as the Chief Medical Officer.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Consistently exhibits behavior and communication skills that demonstrate our company's commitment to superior customer service, including quality, care and concern with each and every internal and external customer
- Uses, protects, and discloses our patients' protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards
- Develop and maintain data models and analytics that help us understand current state of impact to patients
- Develop and/or maintain key performance indicators used by directors and managers to improve processes and maintain a pulse of daily operations. Emphasis on development and maintenance of operational reports
- Partners with Population Health Directors for Affordability planning and reporting
- Become the lane leader and thought partner for our Ops and Medical Directors
- Lead alignment of methods and strategies between various parts of Optum CA and with Optum National teams
- Develop all data and data tools needed to support and track specialty initiatives and expansion of business needs
- Maintain detailed documentation pertaining to routine operational analytics, source of truth and education of the data design with peers to promote cross-coverage and visual aids
- Incorporate industry benchmarks to illustrate baseline metrics and current state when publishing charts, graphs, pivot tables and other diagrams
- Performs additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college and/or a professional certification requiring formal education beyond a two year college
- 2+ years of Data analysis experience with high comfort level in MS Excel and SQL; other analytics platforms (e.g. Tableau, Python, PowerBI)
- Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel
- Proven ability to communicate dense and complex data to senior leaders in a clear and actionable context
- Proven excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Relevant Master's Degree focused on business analytics, applied analytics, MBA etc.
- Knowledge of other analytics platforms (e.g. Tableau, Python, PowerBI)

California Residents Only: The salary range for California residents is $67,800 to $133,100.
