Job Description
This role is responsible for the manufacturing of Controlled Pored Glass (CPG) materials. In addition to all tasks described in the Chem Tech I/II job description, the Sr. Chemistry Tech will have a deeper comprehension of all things CPG, including IFS, training, tech transfers, and safety.
CPG material manufacturing includes amine and nucleoside modification of native CPG at various angstrom sizes as well as modification with proprietary dyes and quenchers, including the more infrequently performed and specialized protocols.
Senior Chemist Technician 1 and 2 designation is based off competency and experience level.
Essential Functions:
- Demonstrate operational capability of planning, setting-up, troubleshooting, and running various scale CPG production.
- Demonstrate operational capability of planning, setting-up, troubleshooting, and running large scale synthesis safely (up to or beyond 100L).
- Assist with the synthesis of CPG reagents and starting material.
- Perform assigned tasks using the established protocols and methods on the appropriate equipment and within the given final specifications and timeline.
- Responsible for the synthesis of specialized CPG protocols, training rubrics, and editing/updating SOPs and WI to most current standards.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of all manufacturing steps by operating independently when needed and being able to analyze and problem solve failures and out of spec instances.
- Responsible for the manufacturing of robust protocols by demonstrating a working knowledge of routine tasks while supporting and collaborating with colleagues to ensure critical tasks are met.
- Working with CPG Manufacturing Supervisors, utilizing MES and ERP systems to continuously replenish inventory of CPG raw and intermediate materials.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and clean workspace utilizing 5S methodology and participating in LGC's Incident Response Team
- Meticulously record real time data onto physical and electronic batch records through MES and ERP.
- Effectively communicate to ensure all equipment is functional and available for use and coordinate with Solid Support Production Team members, affected employees in other departments and the CPG Manager, to ensure the most efficient use of time and resources.
- Performing additional downstream duties which includes and is not limited to DNA synthesis, purification, and QC analysis.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a Physical Science with 2-4 years industry experience in a laboratory setting OR an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates proficiency to meet the requirements of a Senior Chemist Technician 1 or 2.
- Experience with ERP software preferred.
- Excellent understanding of laboratory, chemical, and general safety practices in a manufacturing environment.
- Capable of running multiple reactions in process at any one time to efficiently produce requested materials and submit products by expected deadlines.

The typical pay range for this role is:
Minimum: $ 29.567 /Hourly
Maximum: $ 49.278/Hourly
This range represents the low and high end of the anticipated salary range for the California-based position. The actual base salary will depend on several factors such as: experience, skills, and location.
