Hybrid This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Warren Technical Center three times per week, at minimum.
The Role – You will be responsible for purchase of productive driveline components. Responsible for actively participating in development of commodity strategy, sourcing/negotiations, global/regional material budget execution, and interface with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Work is of a complex nature involving a considerable amount of initiative, analytical work, with a high level of independent judgment and focused on results.

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)
As a Senior Buyer, you will be leading a commodity with cross functional activities to support the development and execution of a comprehensive Business Plan.
Responsible for developing and executing short- and long-term global commodity strategies for your deck.
Responsible for maintaining sourcing pipeline, benchmarking data, strategy presentations, global budget, and on-time metrics.
Interface with suppliers on a daily basis, leading global/regional material budget execution, negotiations and escalations in a complex environment involving a considerable amount of initiative, ambiguity, analytical work, and a high level of independent judgment
Interface with Engineering, CCA and other internal stakeholders to clarify prerequisites and to drive cost reduction.
Coordination and alignment of RFQ package components, including Terms & Conditions, SOR and Technical documentation.
Partner with Program Managers to represent purchasing and communicate program requirements/vehicle line overview
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Accounting, Business, Supply Chain Management, or another related field
Minimal of 5 years of relevant experience in purchasing
Direct Commodity/Material Purchasing Experience
Ability to work effectively cross functionally, both internally and externally and build relationships.
Experience managing commercial issues with suppliers and assessing supplier performance
Proven high competence in negotiating skills.
Professional interpersonal verbal and written communication skills
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge ( Preferred Qualifications)
MBA
Automotive Industry experience
Experience with commodities highly desired (metals, stampings, castings, and electronics/ sensors)
Knowledge of materials management and critical materials
Capable of interpreting market data
Able to read blueprints and to understand basic engineering documents.
Knowledge of contract law and its applications regarding purchasing processes
High level of analytical ability where problems can be somewhat complex
Developed organizational skills including the ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines
Proficient with Microsoft office products - Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
