Hybrid This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Warren Technical Center three times per week, at minimum.

The Role - The position will be responsible for the purchasing of electronic components with the potential for crisis/supply chain management. This is a non-supervisory position, responsible for mitigating supply risks and removing obstacles within the supply chain that may prohibit GM’s ability to manufacture product.

This role will offer the candidate the opportunity to work closely with GM command center, plants, suppliers, tactical operations, purchasing, logistics, etc. In addition to core buyer work, including developing and aligning supplier strategy with commodity technology, negotiation, contract and execution, this candidate may take on Crisis Management activities.

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities) Responsibility of crisis strategy including:

  • Develop and execute purchasing strategies based on business, market, and technology trends and establish strong and competitive supply base

  • Responsible for purchase of all or a specific portion of productive and/or non-productive materials, supplies, machinery, tooling and/or services.  Responsible for actively participating in development of commodity strategy, sourcing/negotiations, budget execution.

  • Support team with resolution of operational issues which need global leadership engagement

  • Lead & contribute to XF team alignment

  • Optimize supply performance by analyzing and applying appropriate tools including benchmarking, cost and value chain analysis, negotiations, supply chain analysis

  • Work closely with cross functional partners internally and externally to trade off imperatives and identify creative solutions, incl during RFQ management, Procure to Pay, order fulfillment, customer satisfaction, and supplier relationship management

  • Drive for winning outcomes that are focused on the mission of the business

  • Develop and manage great supplier relationships

  • Develop protection of supply and contingency plans

  • Work as team leader cross functionally with coordinators managing critical supply issues that come into the NASO Command Center

  • Ability to summarize critical issues with resolutions and communicate to leadership

  • Develop and lead complex flow plans for supplier performance tracking and plant allocation of critical parts

  • Complete adhoc projects as the need arises to ensure a proactive approach to crisis/supply management

  • Must be able to manage very complex & stressful supply issues to resolution with goal to eliminate/minimize plant disruptions

Additional Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field required

  • Minimum of 5 Years Purchasing or related experience required postgraduate

  • High level of capability to work independently

  • Knowledge of computer software applications and management of complex contracts

  • Negotiation skills

  • Ability to prioritize assignments/projects and multi-task within restricted time

  • Capable of interpreting contracts

  • Ability to travel at least 10% of time, including international travel

  • Highly proficient oral and written communication skills

  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and complex

  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others and ability to collaborate cross-functionally

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge ( Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience in technologically complex industry (Semiconductors/Electrical)

  • Cost analysis, or manufacturing experience

  • Automotive industry experience

  • Electrical Engineering background
