University Information Services (UIS) provides technical services and enterprise applications to the University of Colorado's (CU) four campuses and the Office of the President. UIS is committed to excellence in customer service, technical expertise, and the development of enterprise applications responsible for supporting CU's students, faculty, staff, and others.Position Summary:The Sr Business System Analyst is responsible for assisting the Time Management and Leave Application Manager and developers with analysis, configuration, testing, implementation, and application issue resolution within PeopleSoft's HCM system. It requires a solid grasp of all HCM applications and expertise in the Time and Leave and Payroll modules. It requires a tried HRIS background and strong functional payroll knowledge. The position is responsible for assisting with functional design specifications and test plans. The Sr Business System Analyst will work and collaborate with the Time Management & Leave Application Manager, Employee Services, and Campus HR Offices users on assembling all business requirements for customizations and functional configuration.
The Sr Business System Analyst works with additional groups such as:
-Application Managers
-Developers within UIS, Oracle Support, HCM, and FSCM
-Consultants
-Production support
-Project management
-Desktop Support
This position reports to the Time Management & Leave Application Manager and is exempt from the State of Colorado Classified Staff system.
THIS POSITION IS PROJECT FUNDED UP UNTIL JUNE 30, 2026. BUDGETS WILL BE REVIEWED ON A YEARLY BASIS IN ORDER TO REQUEST ADDITIONAL FUNDING FOR THIS ROLE AFTER THAT DATE.

Description of Job
Duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
Primary Responsibilities:
- Analyzing data and application issues within the HCM System, in particular Time and Leave administration functionality
- Writing of functional design documents for customizations and improvements
- Writing of test plans
- Working with users and application managers to collect all vital business requirements for customizations and improvements
- Completing regression testing for all system customizations
- Completing testing for PUM/Selective Adoption and PeopleTools Upgrades
- Performs system assessments, program specification, systems development, system configuration and support during planned and unplanned maintenance windows
- Provide end user support and communicate standard processes
- Documentation of business process and process mapping
- Provides domain expertise for the Business Systems Analysts within the HCM Systems Team
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Tracking and maintaining all functional documents associated with any HCM system
- Provide coverage for modules in the absence of the application manager
- Detailed analysis of HCM release notes and detailed impact analysis
- Assisting with communication of release notes to the HCM Community
- Assisting with vendor management of the module
- Expand professional, technical skills and expertise by acquiring knowledge in new technologies and system development procedures and tools by attending technical classes, seminars, and end user groups
- Accomplishes organizational goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring chances to create valuable contributions to job accomplishments

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education (professional experience may be substituted on a year for year basis for the educational requirement)
- Three (3) years' experience to include the following:
- Working within a PeopleSoft HCM application
- Time and leave knowledge
- Documenting detailed functional design documents
- Testing software
- Using PeopleSoft Query
- PeopleSoft upgrades and PUM/Selective adoption cycles
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with PeopleSoft HCM Time and Labor module
- Experience with PeopleSoft HCM application version 9.2
- Experience with BI Publisher
- Experience writing test plans
- Experience supporting multiple applications
- Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle process (SDLC)
- Knowledge of PeopleSoft's Kabana Analytic Software
- SQL experience using a tool such as TOAD or SQL Developer
- Experience using PeopleTools Testing Framework (PTF)
- Experience with PeopleTools version 8.55+
- Knowledge of PeopleTools configuration; Approval Workflow Engine, Templates, Profile Management, Related Content, etc.
- Knowledge of higher education business processes
