POSITION OVERVIEW:
The primary role of the Catering Sales Manager is to lead and manage the Catering Sales Team within Gourmondo’s Catering & Special Events division, and to increase sales revenue by generating leads and converting them to sales with a balance between social and corporate clientele. This role drives the proposal-generation process with a focus towards developing service plans that meet Gourmondo’s expectations for menu building guidelines, presentation and execution specifications, while always keeping guest experience and excellent customer service at top of mind. The Catering Sales Manager holds team members accountable for sales and service goals, while providing expertise and coaching to enhance their current skill set, bringing support and passion to help motivate, encourage, and inspire.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES (Essential Functions):
· Guide, coach, and inspire event planning team to achieve their goals for close rates and sales numbers.
· Hire and train team members in the division; refining and implementing cohesive training programs for the Sales Team.
· Produce and manage sales based on leads via incoming phone calls, email inquiries, or internal referrals with the purpose of converting the lead to a sale. Identify, qualify, and solicit new catering business to achieve revenue goals. Produce sales based on previous clients renewing annual events.
· Build relationships with meeting planners, wedding coordinators, and event vendors through prospecting, networking, and referrals.
· Work directly with clients and meeting planners to gather necessary information for menu planning, floor plans, timelines, rental orders, third party vendor referrals, cost and billing details and any other requirement for a successful event in a timely manner.
· Conduct site visits and attend assigned events as client liaison when needed.
· Conduct client tastings and support Executive Chef and Catering Chef with custom event menus creation.
· Work closely with Event Operations Team and Culinary Team, providing clear communication and strong leadership; including occasional on-site support for large-scale, high-touch events.
· Oversee creation of BEOs and supporting event documents for distribution, participate in weekly BEO meetings and lead BEO discussion for assigned events. Responsible for Sales Team’s follow-up circulation and timely communication with proper departments.
· Ensure Sales Team provides timely client billing and monitor department’s Accounts Receivable with Accounting Department.
· Maintain complete, in-depth files on all future and past events as directed by departmental standards.
· Expand client relationships beyond the event experience through post-event “thank you” efforts, including client gifting and acknowledgements.
· Owns Team’s monthly metrics, including Catering Sales goals, conversion rates, and other defined deliverables.
· Reports to Catering & Client Services Director and supports with strategic planning, menu development and service offerings to keep Gourmondo at the top of our competitive market.
