The Senior Benefits Specialist is an important part of our larger People and Places function, responsible for managing and administering our comprehensive benefits programs, ensuring compliance with federal and state laws, and providing exceptional support to fellow Virtans. Reporting to the Sr Manager of HR Compliance and Benefits, this person will play an integral role in supporting and driving critical business initiatives and HR processes for Virta’s rapidly growing teams. The ideal candidate will be able to combine operational excellence, a positive employee-centric attitude, and keen eye for detail and organization.
Responsibilities
Administer and manage Virta’s benefits programs including health, dental, vision, retirement plans, and more.
Manage the annual benefits open enrollment process including preparation, communication, and support to employees.
Handle benefits inquiries and issues, providing high-quality support to employees with compassion and efficiency.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local regulations concerning benefits, and stay updated on changes in legislation that may affect employee benefits.
Oversee and manage all aspects of leave of absence, including FMLA, parental leave, disability leave, and other personal or medical leave scenarios, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Collaborate with the HR team on various projects, such as wellness programs, benefits renewals, HRIS system updates, and leave management.
Assist with analysis of market trends and best practices in benefits offerings to remain competitive. Recommend enhancements to our programs as necessary.
Working knowledge of payroll deductions, FICA, etc. as it relates to benefits and leave administration.
90 Day Plan
Within your first 90 days at Virta, we expect you will do the following:
Take over program and process ownership of Benefits administration and Leaves Management
Perform audits of benefits documentation, leave records and associated information in HRIS to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Must-Haves
Minimum of 5 years of experience administering HR operational programs, payroll, and/or benefits management
Self-motivated with excellent organizational and project management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple complex tasks in a fast paced environment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to exercise considerable judgment with highly confidential information, to include HIPAA compliance
Extensive knowledge of federal and state regulations
Comfort with ambiguity; you will be creating processes.
Proficiency in HRIS systems, Workday and ADP preferred.
Experience using a ticketing system such as Zendesk or Jira

Virta has a location based compensation structure. Starting pay will be based on a number of factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience.
