Job Description:

Function of Position:

The Senior CTE Advisor/Success Coach is responsible for recruitment and retention of Career Technical Education (CTE) students. The Senior CTE Advisor will accomplish this by assisting with established recruitment events, developing presentations and providing case management services to CTE students. The Senior CTE Advisor/Success Coach will work with both credit and non-credit students, including those in consortium training programs.

**This is a grant-funded position, contingent upon availability of grant funding and performance reviews. This position is eligible for paid time off and benefits.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintains consistent communication with students.
  • Assists with recruitment and community-based events. 
  • Identifies new opportunities for recruitment and presentations.
  • Identifies and refers to resources within MCC and in the community.
  • Tracks participation of individuals in programs. Such activity could be contacting individuals to inquire how the program is going and to find out what the College can do for them, or follow up on attendance issues or withdrawals.
  • Acts as a liaison to Department of Human Services (DHS), Access-VR, and similar entities on behalf of students.
  • Ensures that matriculated students are enrolled in the appropriate courses to facilitate program completion.
  • Provides assistance with all phases on the application and registration processes.
  • Provides general student advisement and career guidance.
  • Provides access to support services.
  • Documents all student interactions and services provided.
  • Provides workshops and other activities that are of importance to students.
  • Leads team of CTE Advisors and Technical Assistants and mentors team members in regard to advisement and support for students.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Director, EDIWS Secondary Education Partnerships.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Earned associate's degree in Social Work, Human Services or similar discipline from a regionally-accredited higher education institution.
  • 1-3 years' experience in academic advising and student support services.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • High level of organizational skills.
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Customer relations skills. Strong communication, customer service, and presentation skills. 
  • Self-starter individual who is highly motivated.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Flexible and able to travel locally and nationally to various work locations, job fairs, schools, companies, organizations, and other events as needed.
  • Ability to research, develop, implement, and assess networking strategies

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Earned bachelor's degree or higher in Social Work, Human Services or similar discipline from a regionally-accredited higher education institution.
  • Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently.
  • Previous academic experience.
  • Experience in fostering academic success among underserved, diverse student populations and clients of the College.
  • Knowledge of DegreeWorks, INB Banner System, and Self-Service Banner.


Additional Information:

Salary: Salary is determined based on experience, internal equity and college budget. This position has a range of $46,000 to $55,000 and is based on these mentioned factors.

MCC offers a Flexible Work Policy for benefit eligible employees. Types of flexible work arrangements include flextime/staggered shifts, remote work/telecommuting and compressed work schedule. The availability of flexible work arrangements varies by division, department, and position, based upon business and operational needs.
