Senior Accountant

Sr Staff Accountant Westchester County, NY

Responsibilities

• Work with payroll provider to create certified payroll reports for multiple public sector projects
• Review weekly employee time sheets and ensure proper submission into payroll reports
• Support Executive team in integrating new technology software, including researching potential solutions, and working with service providers to streamline processes
• Perform weekly and monthly credit card and banking reconciliations, as well as adjusting journal entries
• Collaborate with senior staff to perform additional accounting and administrative tasks as needed
• Ensure proper documentation is present for all requisitions to clients and payments to subcontractors and suppliers
• Effectively communicate with Project Managers (PM) and Principals-in-Charge (PIC), regarding contract documents, change orders, approvals, and any additional services-related to billing
• Stay in regular communication with project managers regarding the status of the jobs
• Assist CFO with Sage Intacct Software Implementation from QuickBooks
• Analyze corporate financial metrics with focus on revenue, profitability and expense control
• Follow up on outstanding project accounts receivable with project team

Requirements

• Min 3+ years’ Accounting experience in construction and/or real estate mgmt industries
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related preferred
• Must have strong knowledge and experience with public sector projects including prevailing wage and certified payroll reports
• Ability to research accurate billing procedures from executed contracts and provide appropriate documentation required to Executive Management
• Works effectively and efficiently with little to no supervision as well as within a team across multiple projects and tasks
• Highly efficient with managing multi-shifting priorities in fast paced environment
• High level of accuracy with attention to detail and deadline driven
• Excellent communication, organizational and problem solving skills
• Strong proficiency in MS Excel and Sage Intacct required
• Prior experience leading software implementations highly preferred
