Sunstone Therapies is working to accelerate the on-the-ground learning and operations necessary to approve and scale psychedelic therapies in the medical setting. Sunstone is a leader in addressing the mental health of cancer patients and their caregivers through psychedelic therapies. Scope: The Staff Accountant is responsible for analyzing records and reports, managing the company’s accounting of operations through inputting, reconciling, and processing invoices, expense reimbursements, credit cards and bank transactions, and preparing financial statements and reports. The Accountant will provide supervision of the Bookkeeper. The candidate should have a drive and desire to learn while supporting the successful growth of the company. The position will also involve working/collaborating with a cross-functional team. An ideal candidate will have had experience in medium to large sized companies with revenues between $10M - $1B and 50-250 employees.
Job activities include but are not limited to:
- Maintain detailed records and files to document financial transactions including journal entries, account review documentation, and back up.
- Prepare monthly closing journal entries, and maintain reconciliations for balance sheet, and income statement accounts. Manage monthly reconciliation schedules, such as, but not limited to fixed asset and accrued liabilities ledgers.
- Preparation of payroll journal entries from payroll system.
- Submits payment to 401K after payroll submission.
- Creates and sends invoices to fund sponsors.
- Assist in preparation of monthly financial reports.
- Assist with analysis of company expenditures.
- Assist in gathering the information for the annual and quarterly budget and reforecasts, respectively.
- Process and file 1099’s annually.
- Review Accounts Receivable and Payables ledger for accuracy and analysis.
- Oversight of bookkeeper
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
The successful candidate must demonstrate the following skills, experience and competencies:
- 3 years of accounting experience or equivalent, including experience in leading and managing regular closes
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- Experience with Quickbooks Online
- Strong experience in Google Office Suite, advanced google sheets skills and/or Microsoft Office Suite, advanced excel skills
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Strong numerical and analytical skills

- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
