The Medical Assistant/Scribe is responsible for ensuring that they assist physicians with all patient care. Cannot perform MA and scribe duties simultaneously for the same patient. Performs Medical Receptionist and other clerical duties as requested.
- Accompany clinicians into patient rooms and transcribe clinician dictations/notes
- Actively listen to all conversations pertaining to patient care between the clinician and other healthcare providers, patients, family, etc. and document relevant information into the EMR
- Document clinician and patient encounters into EMR
- Seek out missing information from clinicians to complete the physician chart
- Gather and input pertinent patient information from external sources (e.g. outpatient lab tests nursing home/EMR records)
- Place phone calls to physician offices, pharmacies, etc. as requested by the clinician
- Keep clinicians informed of resulting diagnostics and troubleshoot delays in those result Medical Assistant
- Measuring and recording vital signs.
- Recording patient interview, history and chief complaint.
- Providing patient education with regards to office policies, medications, management of diseased, home treatments and special diets.
- Assisting the physician with exams and minor office surgery.
- Preparing patients for examinations and performing routine screening tests.
- Change dressings, applying bandages, removing sutures and other first aid procedures.
- Using CPR skills when required.
- Maintaining supplies, equipment, stocking, and sterilization of instruments
- Practice OSHA safety standards.
- Performing accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times.
- May triage patient phone calls/review prescriptions with patient as directed by physician
- Perform other duties as assigned which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, but may be altered or redesigned depending upon individual circumstances
- Perform Phlebotomy

- High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Superb listening, verbal and written communication skills

- Ability to work in a fast-paced, stressful environment
- Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
- 1+ years prior medical office experience
- AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
