Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
The Medical Assistant/Scribe provides physician support to ensure that healthcare operations run smoothly. They will prepare patients and rooms for examination, take vitals, obtain medical histories, perform injections, EKGs, blood draws, ear lavage, suture/staple removal, and instrument reprocessing. Some MA's will also scribe for the provider. They also may provide allergy testing and therapy with guidance from the physician.
The Medical Assistant will also perform administrative tasks, such as phone triage, notifying patients of results, faxes, refill requests, referrals and prior authorizations.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Anticipate physician needs to facilitate patient flow
- Establish and maintain effective working relations with physicians, management and staff
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Clinical experience required
- Medical scribing experience with electronic medical records preferred for some positions
- Must be proficient in typing and good at spelling, punctuation, and grammar
- Must be able to communicate effectively in person, by phone and in writing
- Must be highly detail-oriented
- Must have professional demeanor, conduct, and work ethic
- Must be available whenever the physician is working, including early mornings and/or late evenings.
Education:
- High School diploma (or equivalent) required.
- Additional certification and/or degree in healthcare field preferred.
Compensation: Compensation will be commensurate with work experience.
