Job description: Medical Scribe/ Medical Assistant position at Sleep, TMS & Wellness Center:
It is very suitable position for undergrads taking a gap year before they apply for medical school and want to have at least one or more year of clinical experience. Prefer candidates interested in Interventional psychiatry and sleep medicine.
Part time (4-6 hours/day) positions for a medical-psychiatry practice focused on Neuropsychiatry, Sleep Medicine, TMS (Transcranial magnetic stimulation treatment of depression) and Ketamine treatment. The practice is located at a prime location in Great Neck at the intersection of Northern Blvd and Lakeville Road.
Prefer recent undergraduate candidates with some prior medical experience, good communication skills & eagerness to learn new technologies. Candidate should have compassionate & caring mindset and have the capacity to develop rapport with patients easily. Job may provide rich clinical experience for undergraduates preparing for medical school. Job involves multitasking, including interaction with patients, taking vitals, home sleep testing, running TMS therapy session, managing Esketamine treatment sessions, cognitive testing (CNS & TOVA), using EMR and answering phone calls.
The job involves excellent opportunity to learn basics of clinical psychiatry and sleep medicine. It involves learning various technologies (interventional psychiatry) in clinical practice: A major part of the job may involve training as TMS technician to provide TMS (Transcranial magnetic stimulation of brain) treatment to patients with depression. Our office also offers MRI guided TMS treatment.
The center also offers FDA approved use of psychedelics (Ketamine) for treatment of severe depression and other disorders. Such treatments involves close clinical and medical monitoring of patients being in office for over two hours long.
Patient's with cognitive disorders ( ADHD & others) are offered computerized cognitive testing to supplement the clinical assessments. Other relevant technologies include doing QEEG ( brain mapping) to learn the brainwave patterns before and after various treatments. This facility also has sleep medicine lab to do polysomnography (PSG) and home sleep studies in patients with various sleep disorders. Running a sleep lab involves making various administrative arrangement to run the sleep study. PSG study is done by a trained sleep technician during night hours.
As the job involves significant active learning curve and we prefer to have candidates who are willing to work at least for a year or more. It is not suitable for candidates looking for a summer job or short term jobs.
