RECRUITMENT DETAILS
NOTE: This recruitment/examination will establish an eligibility list to fill vacancies occurring in the following job classes: School Office Manager II, School Office Manager III, and School Office Manager IV. The eligibility list will be active for up to six (6) months from the date of promulgation.

EXAMINATION PROCESS
1. Training and Experience Evaluation - Pass/Fail
Applications will be screened for best qualified applicants to compete in the competitive examination process.
If it is determined that your application meets the minimum requirements for this position, your application may be scored by a panel of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). Scoring will be based upon scope and length of experience, responses to the Supplemental Questions, and general application appearance (e.g., sentence structure, grammar, and spelling).

2. General Assessment /Performance Examination -Date: TBD
The Performance Examination will consist of document creation/revision utilizing Microsoft Office Word and Excel 2016, as well as an on-line multiple choice examination assessing fundamental knowledge for the position.
For those passing the General Fitness / Performance Examination:
3. Structured Oral Interview - Date: TBD
The Structured Oral Interview will be before a panel and contain questions that assess technical knowledge, experience, and one's general fitness for successful performance in the position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
BASIC POSITION FUNCTION: Under general supervision, to serve as secretary to the principal of a high school or adult school, to perform a wide variety of responsible secretarial clerical work; to assist the principal by relieving him/her of administrative detail; to do related work as required.
Performs a variety of secretarial and clerical duties for the principal;
Responds to inquiries office visitors and telephone callers and either answers questions concerning the school's courses, activities or programs, refers persons to another source of information or schedules an appointment with the school administrator.
Prepares letters, reports, bulletins, memorandums and other documents including material of confidential nature; composes independently or from oral instructions, letters requesting or giving information or letters dealing with routine school activities;
Maintains budgetary and purchasing records;
Provides general orientation, keys, lesson plans, maps and payroll forms to substitute teachers, issues substitute evaluation forms to teachers; receives, opens and routes mail, receives and issues supplies;
Assists with arrangements for school activities and coordinate school activities;
Maintains active teacher files, correspondence and other files and records;
Prepares employee monthly time report and submits to the school administrator for approval;
Maintains, issues and receives school keys;
Compiles and prepares reports;
May be assigned supervisory duties over student aides and/or clerical employees engaged in related activities.
MINIMUM ENTRANCE QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
Option I: Equivalent of three (3) years secretarial/clerical experience.
Option II: Minimum of two (2) years of increasingly responsible Office Assistant III experience with the Conejo Valley Unified School District.
Education: Persons with the experience, knowledge and abilities as stated are considered to have the necessary education.
JOB COMPETENCIES: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of:
The functions and clerical operation of an administrative office;
Office methods and equipment including filing systems, receptionist and telephone techniques, letter and report writing, proofreading, word processing and personal computer equipment;
The elements of English usage, spelling, punctuation and arithmetic;
Basic techniques of supervision.
Ability to:
Perform difficult secretarial and clerical work involving independent judgment and requiring thorough knowledge of school programs;
Understand and follow complex instructions, both oral and written;
Take responsibility and use good judgment in recognizing scope of authority;
Compose correspondence independently;
Relieve the principal of administrative detail;
Keep difficult records and make reports;
Meet the public in situations requiring tact, diplomacy, and poise;
Type at a rate of 60 words per minute from clear copy;
Operate a computer for word processing, spreadsheet creation/management and database management.

BENEFITS
MEDICAL/PRESCRIPTION INSURANCE: Employees holding regular/permanent positions at 27.5 or more hours per week shall be eligible to participate in a variety of District plans. Employee contribution amount towards a premium varies based on medical plan. Family coverage is also available with an additional employee monthly paid premium. NOTE: Employees with assignments fewer than 27.5 hours per week are eligible to participate / buy-in into medical plans at full cost.
DENTAL INSURANCE: Employees holding regular/permanent positions at 30.0 or more hours per week shall be eligible to participate in the District-paid coverage for family dental insurance.
VISION CARE INSURANCE: Employees holding regular/permanent positions at 30.0 or more hours per week shall be eligible to participate in the District-paid coverage for family vision insurance.
HOLIDAYS: Up to fourteen paid holidays per year.
LIFE INSURANCE: Employees holding regular/permanent positions at 30.0 or more hours per week shall be eligible to participate in the District-paid coverage for family life insurance.
VACATION: Employees with one to three years of service earn 12 vacation days per year (employees working less than 12 months shall earn vacation on a pro rata basis). The number of vacation days earned increases with longevity up to 20 days per year after 15 years of service.
SICK LEAVE: One day per month, cumulative from year to year (employees working less than 12 months shall earn sick leave on a pro rata basis).
RETIREMENT: Employees holding regular/permanent positions at 4 or more hours daily AND at least 20 hours weekly are covered by Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) and Social Security. Contributions are made by both the employee and employer. Click to visit website.

SALARY STEP MOVEMENT: First day of fiscal year (July 1st) for those employees in working status at least 75% of work year.
LONGEVITY COMPENSATION: Upon completion of 7, 10, 14, 20, 24, and 29 years of service from the hire date, employees receive an additional 2 1/2% salary increase.
REPRESENTATION: Classified staff (with the exception of Campus Safety Assistants) are represented by Chapter 620, CSEA.
