Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Two (2) professional full time years of related experience. Advanced Excel experience ( ie.pivot tables, formulas, etc). Experience writing technical reports. Must have, keep and maintain the appropriate valid NYS Driver's License; have a motor vehicle record which is free from major violations or a pattern of repeat violations. Brief Description of Duties:
The position will require managing a Sampling Program in conjunction with the project Principal Investigators and the project Research Professor. This position works in conjunction with the project Principal Investigators and reports directly to the project Research Professor.
Highly qualified candidates will have excellent data management skills demonstrated through project examples or other tangible evidence. They will have previous experience demonstrating responsible behavior on teams that have completed complicated assignments.
- The Sampling Program Specialist will assist in preparing and completing site-specific work plans for sampling events to be held approximately 10-12 weeks per year and have primary responsibility for maintaining sampling equipment inventories and packing lists for fieldwork.
- They will supervise and assist one of two teams of 4 students one week at a time during sampling times, requiring participation in the sorting of MSW and recyclables at solid waste facilities. This will require overnight travel for as much as 10 weeks per year.
- Oversight and management of fieldwork expenses.
- Responsible for organizing sampling data and following existing templates to help create site-specific reports and comprehensive seasonal and annual sampling reports.
- Involved in the preparation of scholarly articles and grant submissions, and to present such output at professional venues.
- Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.
Special Notes:
This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
This position will be a "resident" position that maintains an office in the Department when not in the field.
In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $3,087 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
