Job Summary
The Ethanol Department in Houston plays a key role in Mitsubishi Corporation’s Global Ethanol marketing team in order to maintain/grow market share.
Ethanol trading for our US and Latin America ethanol business is important for continued growth and success. Ethanol is a liquid chemical, derived from agriculture feedstocks corn or sugar cane and can be broken down into two main categories:
1. Fuel - which is blended with gasoline for decarbonization purposes;
2. Industrial- which is used in chemical applications as well as direct human consumption.
Due to the various product specifications and government oversight (taxation, etc.), attention to detail, quality control, and understanding the differences in the products are essential.
Mitsubishi has a global ethanol team, which makes information sharing and cooperation in our Houston office and with others, very important. Logistics, especially marine, is a key part of the business as we move our product within the US (barges) and from country to country by bulk chemical ships. Much of the business is done in Latin America thus speaking Spanish is quite helpful.
The Sales Support & Logistics Coordinator job for our trading is important to satisfy customer/supplier needs as well as maintain internal compliance. It is expected for the job to initiate the coordination of bulk (500,000 – 5,000,000 gallons +) shipments with customers and vendors, in a professional manner. Expertise in complete sets of shipping documentation especially import/exports (marine Bill of Lading, certificates of origin, commercial invoice, certificate of quality/quantity, specialty documentation, and others) is essential. Maintaining records of all costs for each shipment and in-putting in our SAP system is required. A proactive approach for preventing serious problems such as costly barge/vessel demurrage as well as taking actions for troubleshooting is very important. Understanding and working with our various corporate support services is key to smooth operations.
Compliance management for the logistics, such as data collection and filing of required information by and disseminating to various corporate departments is an essential responsibility. Un-denatured ethanol is a highly regulated product due to the tax revenue collected by the US government so proper documentation is necessary for each transaction.
