Job Summary
The Safety Manager is responsible for implementing safety policies and procedures within the organization. The Safety Manager works with other managers under the direction of the Director of Safety to identify potential safety hazards and risks, and then they develop and implement plans to mitigate those risks. In the performance of this function, it is the Safety Manager’s responsibility to protect and promote Blum’s interests in all matters and to do whatever is reasonably necessary to discharge of his or her duties and responsibilities which include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following.
General Responsibilities
- Supervise employee activities
- Inspect company equipment and job sites to ensure compliance with health and safety standards
- Conduct incident investigations and make sure records are properly filed
- Assist in tracking and analyzing near miss incidents and identify strategies to prevent future incidents
- Develop and conduct employee trainings to educate and promote company health, safety plans and safe practices
- Assist in development of health/safety plan and policies that manage programs and ensure safe working conditions
- Foster a culture of safety throughout organization and promote company’s safety values to construction partners
- Participate in the employee safety committee
- Assist with safe project work plans prior to mobilization
- Participate in project/company meetings
- Analyze leading indicators to drive future safety activities
- Work with state safety officials and insurance safety representatives
- Supervise site safety representatives when required
- Other duties as assigned or requested
Qualifications
- 5+ years relative field experience required
- Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred
- Must be an effective communicator
- OSHA 30 in Construction Preferred
- OSHA 10 in Construction Required
- Must have a valid driver's license and ability to comply with Blum Construction Fleet Program
- Valid CPR/First-Aid Certification
