Essential Job Duties:

Join Our Team as an Safety Advisor Program Manager!
This position is responsible for the development and administration of the comprehensive EHS laboratory inspection program for the University. We’re seeking a dedicated individual to join our EHS Department as a Safety Advisor Program Manager. In this role, you’ll play a pivotal part in designing the program, assigning and/or scheduling inspections, conducting and documenting inspections for the purpose of minimizing risk associated with a wide array of EHS hazards including chemical and physical, radiation and radioactive materials, biological materials, fire and life safety, and environmental/hazardous waste.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates and provides necessary subject-specific training to Safety Advisor team members. Encourages cross-training within the EHS department.
  • Monitors individual team member performance in the inspection process and
    identifies gaps and deficiencies in training and/or performance.
  • Sets clear goals for each team member in collaboration with EHS
    management. Provides regular feedback on performance to all parties.
  • Develops expertise in the function and performance of the EHS-Assistant platform as it relates to the comprehensive lab inspection program. Acts as liaison between EHPS IT and the Safety Advisor team for troubleshooting EHS- Assistant issues, implementing improvements or expanding scope of the program.
  • Serves as EHS primary point of contact for all queries related to the cross-
    functional laboratory inspection program.
  • Develops, implements and encourages laboratory self-inspection and
    reporting in support of the comprehensive lab inspection program.
  • Deliver training and performance summary presentations to University stakeholders.
  • Develops and implements strategies and initiatives to improve and expand visibility and impact of the cross-functional laboratory inspection program.
  • Schedule, plan and conduct regular Safety Liaison meetings.

  • Review inspection data and identify trends, areas of opportunity for improvement, and the need for special emphasis or engagement on a departmental, college or building level. D
  • Develop program communications related to best practices, new/amended inspection programming and mitigation strategies of health, safety and regulatory concerns, to update impacted laboratories.
  • Seek program efficiencies and partnerships with appropriate campus units (e.g. Facilities), to extend programming and maximize impact to laboratories.
Minimum Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree and three years of experience in the area of assignment, of which
at least one is supervisory or in a lead-worker capacity; or an equivalent combination
of training and experience.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Other Required Qualifications:
  • Understands and embraces the compliance improvement and risk reduction goals of the comprehensive laboratory inspection program and builds upon existing foundation on an ongoing basis to maximize the impact of the program.
  • Knowledge of regulations associated with hazardous material management, radiation safety practices, and emergency planning, preparedness and response, electrical safety and instrumentation
  • Experience using and managing databases to track performance outcomes
  • Ability to understand and apply regulatory codes/directives to implement institutional practices and recommend corrective actions
  • Excellent communication skills. Ability to communicate technical information to
    faculty, staff, customers on campus, vendors, clients, teammates and management
  • Strong interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Engineering or Applied Sciences

Required License(s) or Certification(s):

Valid DL required.
NCDL within 60 days of hire.
