Job description

Position Summary: The Safety Coordinator will assist the corporate Safety Manager in all facets of implementing and sustaining a strong safety culture in which safety is the number one value. Daily work to minimize the risk of job-related injuries will be crucial to the team’s success. This position requires leading with a safety-first mindset.
Essential Functions:
· Assist in overseeing the success of the Morris Packaging’s Safety Program.
· Ensure the safety of all Morris Packaging employees.
· Assisting in creating and sustaining a safety culture that ensures safety is Morris Packaging’s number one value.
· Identifying risk and following projects through to sustainable corrective action.
· Near Miss investigations.
· Assist with safety orientation of new employees.
· Assist with safety training for current employees.
· Perform safety audits of the facility.
· Assist in various meetings.
· Be a member of the safety committee.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be in both an office environment and on the plant floor. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets and will require visits to the plant floor that is subject to vibration, equipment noise and cleaning solvents leading to a loud environment. Position may occasionally travel to customers or other venues to support business activities.
Physical Demands: The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. The employee is required to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity, stand and walk for extended periods of time. Lift 50 pounds to shoulder height. Repetitive motion using wrists, hands, fingers, with the ability to feel and reach with hands and arms.
· Continuous (6 to 10 hours per day) standing and walking.  
· Continuous (6 or more hours per day) talking, teaching, and repetitive motion, hand/wrist movement.   
· Frequent (1 to 2 hours per day) bending, pushing, pulling, climbing stairs, reaching, lifting, and grasping.   
· Frequent (1 to 2 hours per day) working at a computer terminal.  
· Ability to move and lift objects, frequently 20 lbs.  
· Sensory requirements: good eyesight, normal hearing, and fluent in the English language.  
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work vary, Monday through Friday, due to shift coverage needs. Occasional evenings and weekend work will be required as job duties demand.
Travel: Occasional travel required for this position.
Required Education and Experience:
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Manufacturing experience preferred.
Licenses and Certifications: None 
Certifications or required class attendance: None
Supervisory Responsibility: None currently.
