What the job is
The Safety Coordinator ensures compliance in all aspects of the Safety Program for the California division. Everything from the Injury and Illness Prevention Plan, OSHA requirements, accident investigations to training, audits and ordering the proper PPE. You will be working with managers, supervisors, and other personnel to ensure all employees are trained and working safely. You are in the middle of everything SAFETY.
The Safety Coordinator is an active member, organizer, and administrator of the California Safety Committee. In addition, you will attend other department safety meetings to ensure you know the issues employees are subjected to. Our employees work mainly outdoors and you will be a "boots on the ground" connection for them. You will be updating and maintaining the safety library we have established with policies and training for use by all employees as well as conducting training throughout the year.
A key component of this role is to assist with the continuing development and updates to the recently implemented safety system. This system is used as a receptable for all safety policies and employee trainings. It tracks safety incidents, safety meetings, audits, and employee training. You will be using this system to not only input safety data/training that is performed outside the system, but maintain the information that is input by the employees at the California division to ensure data integrity. With this comes other tasks such as compiling reports with respect to risks and mandatory training obligations for safety standards set by the state and the company safety director.
Where you'll work
You will interact with all departments in California to support and be the lead in presenting our safety culture. Our main office is located in Humboldt County (Korbel, CA) along the Northern California coast where the redwoods meet the Pacific Ocean.
