Job Summary
The Safety Coordinator is crucial in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment within our company. Responsible for implementing and reviewing safety programs, policies, and procedures, the Safety Coordinator ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and promotes a safety culture among employees. This position involves collaboration with various departments to identify and address potential safety hazards, conduct training programs, and continuously improve safety measures.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
-Coaching supervisors, managers and other leaders in the company about health and safety policies and procedures
-Presenting safety training material to the company
-Ensuring compliance with OSHA, federal and state regulations
-Performing risk assessments to gather information on safety issues
-Verifying that employees consistently follow safety protocols via audits and inspections
-Analyzing health and safety data
-Reviewing and recommending changes to regular activities
Required Knowledge/Skills:
-Understanding of OSHA guidelines and other state and local safety regulations
-Familiarity with the tools, machines and equipment used in the workplace
-Attention to detail
-Critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills
-Ability to teach others the established safety standards
-Strong verbal and written communication skills
-Computer literacy skills and comfort with various types of technology used in the industry
-Ability to work well as a team and interact with different groups of people
QUALIFICATIONS:
Safety certifications and/or training (preferred)
Must pass pre-employment medical screening
*Working conditions will range from extremely hot during the summer months to rather cool during the winter. All employees are required to wear the following safety equipment: respirator, hard hat, ear plugs, coveralls, gloves, steel toed boots. Employees are required to be clean shaven.*
